I can't help but feel Arrow have missed a trick here.

I mean, a 4K restoration...but no 4K release?

Maybe they'll try and get us to double-dip (triple in my case) in 18 months time?

Arrow don't have a distribution licence for 4K UHD
Also sales of UHD discs is tiny and arrow likely be stuck with lot of unsold stock even if they got a distribution licence for a 4K UHD release due to amount of 4K UHD discs needed to be manufactured for a print run
Yes you can do a limited edition of 2000/3000/5000 but overall print run is higher for the UHD discs themselves that's where the standard release stock also comes from

To be financially viable arrow would have to share print run of UHD discs with other distributors but that means less profit on a release
Sales of UHD discs is still tiny compared to DVD and Blu-ray

This is why a lot of independent distributors not doing 4K UHD yet as they have to licence releases from Film Studios for these releases

A 4K UHD release that will be from universal themselves if they decide on doing one as they own the rights to the film
It cost film studios distributors less to do UHD releases where they own they film rights

Studiocanal for example their releases on 4K UHD they are films they own the rights that is a big difference

I think it's fair to say that some movie transfers will never be good enough for 4K, on the other hand some really are but this one always had a 'not too good' source

For those who ordered direct from arrow store may have notice payment was taken on Monday but not had their orders dispatched yet

I contacted Arrow
I was told orders will be dispatching from tonight

Arrow distribution center has been very busy this week due processing a lot sale orders and next week new releases

I can understand this happening when sale is on as they would be getting lot more orders than would usually would have to process when no sale was running
