Surprised to see that there's no mention of the brilliant CJ entertainment limited edition digipacks.

Show me some ... I'm at a loss to what you are talking about.
He is referring to these ones.
They are one of my favourites in my collection besides my Steelbooks. :)
Most of the films (except for maybe a couple) in this collection are cream of the crop films from Korea and the transfers are always topnotch which makes these releases even more desirable.

The first-press are Digipacks usually, with the older or more popular/acclaimed releases being long out-of-print now and a bit rare (Memories of Murder, Mother and The Good, The Bad, The Weird being the most rare I think).

They are kind of like the initial Criterion Blu-ray Digipacks, but much better quality and more sturdy.

Hah, I just randomly Googled it and it was one of the pics the showed up.
Sorry for not giving credit. :)

Awesome collection by the way.

Yep, the CJ digipacks are my favorite as well. All of them comes with a slipcover and the designs are consistent with each other with different color. Also, it is numbered in sequence.

Currently, there are 14 total releases as of today. Most of the earlier releases are already sold out from online stores.

The top most expensive titles are listed below...and they usually go for about $100-$150 brand new and sealed on eBay. Recently, several used copies sold for about $100 recently. I rarely see them on eBay..maybe 1 every 3 months or more? People who own them...pretty much treasure them.

Memories of Murder
Mother
The Good, The Bad, The Weird
Man From Nowhere

I follow pretty much all of the Korean releases when it comes out...looking for the box office hit to buy....

The Man From Nowhere is a baddd azzz movie...The US bought the rights to it as you can get the US edition of the movie on Amazon.

Memories of Murder is based on a true story...a big hit back then...a very popular movies.

The Good, The Bad, and The Weird is a western movie...with a lot of gun shooting. I thought it was okay, but a lot of people liked it.

CJ Entertainment (Hangul: 씨제이엔터테인먼트, CJ엔터테인먼트) is a South Korean entertainment company which is involved in film production, investment, distribution and exhibition. It is the largest entertainment company in South Korea. They are a branch of CJ Corporation (formerly Cheil Jedang), traditionally a food company.

They look very nice, thanks for photos. Just one thing though what does "CJ" signify?

I wish I was more in tune to Korean releases, The Man From Nowhere was a great movie. I seen The Good The Bad and The Weird as well and I enjoyed it. I will check out Mother and Memories of Murder.

Yep they're very nice the only digipacks that come close are the Japanese Studio Ghibli blu rays which also look (and probably feel) fantastic but those are waaaay too much money for me.

I knew that above picture looked familiar...

This is my collection updated with Sunny. I might value these more than my steelbooks...

And so you should, Memories Of Murder is close to impossible to get a hold of now, I had to settle for the 2nd press release.

You should.... I prefer Korean cinema movies over the US hollywood...except for the CGI effects.

I can give you so many recommendation in Korean cinema...

Here are some...

Seven Days
- from beginning to the end, this one has me on the seat - non-stop adrenaline movie.... highly recommend - the main star is the asian gal in the TV show Lost.

The Chaser
- another non-stop adrenaline...trying to catch the killer...

A Bittersweet Life - if you enjoy The Man From Nowhere, then you'll love this one as well. The main actor is Storm Shadow from GI Joe movie.

A Moment To Remember - if you want to cry, then check this one out.... I can't recommend this one enough - everyone loved it so far. It blows away The Notebook. A lot of people make the comparison between the two, but A Moment To Remember is just too beautiful not to fall in love. I love it so much that I bought almost every DVD releases from it :hilarious:

Memories of Murder - don't research about the true story as it will be a huge spoiler...you have to watch it and then you'll appreciate it even more. After watching the movie, it made me want to find out more about the event.

The above is some of my recommendation off my head....however, there are many more entertaining movies. As for Mother, I thought it was okay, but it was not something special. It is not a movie that I would not highly recommend to others. The girls love Won Bin (who did The Man From Nowhere) so they tend to like him in The Mother.

My most anticipate Korean movie coming out in blu-ray is Arrows. This movie is a major hit in Asia right now... I hope it gets a special packaging treatment in blu-ray. US already bought the rights to release it in the US market, but I'm hoping for a digibook of the movie.

Yes what my man above said, own them all on both formats DVD LEs & BDs and they are a must add to ones collection for sure, there're loads more so don't get me started as I will never shut up hehe

Got my 'The Front Line / Gojijeon' BD last week and watched it last night, quite enjoyed it although it's not on the same level as Tae-Guk-Gi, the storyline attempts to dig deeper than just the depiction of war scenes. I think in this regard it was successful. The impressive battle scenes to take Aero-K will stay in your memory long after end credits finish. This is definite worth checking out flick from S. Korea.

I love Man from Nowhere. But I have only watched the US version (nice slipcover too). Where can I get this digipack for Man from Nowhere?

I am waiting for this one from YesAsia - The Front Line:

The Man From Nowhere was sold out before release date. I believe that was the only title that was sold out during pre-order.

Your best best is probably eBay, but then again, I haven't seen that title on eBay for the whole year.

If I see it, then I'll let you know... PM you...

What's your favorite scene from the movie?

I love the knife fighting scene at the end....AND...the part when he was chasing after the car in the golf course scene with his wet long hair....bad azzz :scat:

So many awesome scenes but the one that I remember the best is the parking garage scene when he walked towards the crashed car and got on top of the car and shot. Completely expression-less like the T1000 in T2.

Also when he bought the school supplies for the little girl and asked something from her - wow! I still get emotional thinking about that scene because I can relate to that so very dearly.

Thanks for the PM May!
