We’ve been thinking of ways that we can help give back to the art community while also coming up with fun, new releases for customers, and we’re proud to announce our New Artists Showcase! Today we’ll be releasing pieces from six artists that we’ve never worked with before, with art ranging from pop culture to literature to personal projects.
Michael Raaflaub’s print, inspired by Alex Proyas’ cult film, Dark City, splays out the strange city where it’s always night, and captures the gothic architecture and haunting weirdness of the scenery from the film.
Tihomir Gvero’s intricately built piece, based on H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds, is a 3-D block rendering of the alien invasion from the sci-fi staple. We love the medium-in-medium approach to this print, and there’s an impressive amount of detail in the designed city.
With Dune’s reentry into the public eye, we teamed up with Matt Griffin to release a high quality version of his recent work on the redesigned book covers for Frank Herbert’s original Dune series. Maintaining the series’ intriguing alien worldbuilding, Matt’s art portrays the main character, Paul.
George Townley’s print, inspired by The Office, is a hilarious rendition of the tremendous sitcom’s finale. George’s print is subtle enough for both casual and hardcore fans of the show, providing a few fun Easter eggs.
Bruce Horan’s painted ode to things we love about so many cities, pared down to the basics, is a nice piece of remembrance during difficult times. Bruce’s paintings blend imagery and emotion, and we’re happy to be able to release a print of his work.
Lastly, Jay Gordon makes us confront our worst, Cthulu-inspired nightmares with his print for At The Mountains of Madness. Capturing both the terror and adventure of the story, we can’t keep our peepers off of it!
