I'm not sure of what "day-to-day device" means, i'm learning english everyday by reading the forum. 
But i think at home it's my macbook or my dishwasher and at work my dentist's chair...

It's hard to choose only one film music.
I firstly think to Requiem for a dream. The summer overture was awesome. I like Mad World from Donnie Darko too.
But for the entire soundtrack I must say The Nightmare Before Christmas, Danny Elfman did a really good work!
And finally I cannot forget Ennio Morricone' soundtracks and particularly Once Upon A Time in the West!
