Hey guys-the discussion of liking or not liking the Blu-Ray banners on Steelbook art work started in the 'Immortals'(NL) thread. Since we have collectors who started when banners were more common, or jumped into the hobby later, I am adding a new thread so you can share your thoughts-Digitalbabe, Staff

Have fun! :scat:

From Mayflower-

Every steelbook seem to have their own con...

Hard-core movie enthusiast MUST have un-cut version of the movie or else it's a no-no :) I personally love the front of the NL version, plus it has 3D (a must-have) and the un-cut version. It's a no brainer for me to pick it up for $35 shipped. I'm disappointed that it might not have inside artwork, but then again, UK doesn't have un-cut version. The French version has forced sub and cut version, the Canada version has no 3D and cut version. Nothing is perfect, but I gotta go with my favorite front artwork which is the one that I'm going to display.

I like 2 piece bikinis :p

Actually if the UK version wasn't cut that one to me would be the clear cut winner. I think the back on that one is the nicest.

And I am still weary as to whether or not there is inside artwork if that was just the picture... :squint:

might be indeed, but what's a "new collector"? i collect for 2/3years,i 'm not a collector from the start, but i don t think i m a "new collector" however

anyone who prefer clean artwork and have some blu-banner steelbook laying around in your collection. Please, send them my way for retail price. I'll do you a favor by taking them all from you :)
Don't you have some steels without any banner? sometimes it is impossible to have a steel of a film that we reaaly want in steel(because of the visual an or movie that we really like) without banner, so for me it s still "better than nothing at all"..

Of course, SteelBook with banner is better than no SteelBook. Pulp Fiction, for example. The banner doesn't bother me, but maybe its the style of the cover art.

I'm a new collector..started about 1 year ago, but I like to be considered "OG" in the collector's world. I'm an OG kind of guy...and that's why I'm willing to pay folks with OG steelbook.

Yes as a matter of fact, I have many steel without banner :hilarious: My preference is blu-banner because I like the style.

I like classic Ferarri worth 10 mil, while some people like modern Ferarri worth 2 mil. I like to old painting worth 100 mil, while others like new painting worth $50 mil :)

confess yourself to me son, it is you that is the only one that chose "Yes, they add to the overall design" right? (lol)

the price has nothing to do with the subject, and the fact that something is older doesn't imply that it is necesseraly more expensive that other things less old..

It really depends on the steel. The banner works on some, doesn't work at all on others.

Example: Iron Man FS looks awesome with the banner. Sin City would have looked 10 times better without it.

your opinion(wich is your right obviously), for instance i don 't like this iron man steel(yeah, throw me first rock..lol)probably mainly because of the boarders(especially the blu one... would have been "better" for me if they all had been red)

I like Blue Banners on glossy steels like Star Trek. Not on Matte ones like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

This is what I think:
1) Blu-Banners are a must for me on those old first print releases they came out 3-4 years ago and I would do anything to get those OOP titles if they're not in my collection, frankly it's those 1st print releases that make this steelbook collectible hobby so interesting, exciting and worthy, without them it'd be just a plain boring hobby, no sought after releases, no determination to hunt them down as they are widely available and can be picked up anywhere etccc

2) For all those new releases, I'd rather have them without the Blu-Banners, but still I don't mind them though, all depends on the overall artwork ;)

For me its all about the front artwork, debossed/embossed, the extra bling bling anything else is a bonus :D

Some steels look good with the blu banner ,some don't . Some people may like it with the blu banner(me) some may don't like it,it's just a matter of taste

The only steelbook that I own that I actually like the banner is The Expendables extended cut from Germany. It's a silver banner, so it does add to the effect of the artwork.

In my opinion, all steelbooks should be clean, surely the point of them is for pure artwork. We're not dumb, we know it's a blu-ray.

However, I don't hate banners as sometimes they do look good. I just much, much prefer without.
