Looks like Best Buy Canada/Future Shop will be laying off 950 employees.

According to the source, the online sales went up 50% thus requiring less employees in the brick and mortar stores.

No stores closures tho.

There's hardly enough people working in their stores as is. Why would people buy off their online stores when the packaging is absolutely horrendous? This is absurd.

Ever since they have been "re-organizing" and "downsizing" their movie section I have had to shop more on the website than physically in store. They just don't have the selection physically in stores anymore.

Same thing happened with my small town USA Best Buy. There was potential of an impulse buy for me previously, but now with the combined dvd and blu-ray aisle, there aren't any non-mainstream titles...

:(

Lay offs are bad. My hat off to those who lost their jobs. Hope they have had some luck in finding employment elsewhere.
