SO went and saw this last night in IMAX.

The movie wasn't bad. There was a lot that I liked. Some really fun action scenes that were shot in some really fun ways. And the Rock did a great job with it. I actually hope we get more of him in the future. The JSA was great too. Especially Dr. Fate & Hawkman (Atom Smasher and Cyclone don't get much to do though).

My issue with the movie is the story isn't anything special. Very average superhero stuff. Also I don't know why, but they throw this kid in there and he's soooooo annoying. Why do they always have to do that? Is it because then kids watching have someone to relate to? The movie would have been much better without him or at least minimize his role.

On a positive note. The end credits scene made me very happy.

--- Review over.
Conspiracy theorist time:

Something that was also very odd to me in my screening that I wanted to discuss... There was a group of people in the theater that were VERY excited about the movie. Almost too excited. They cheered and clapped at almost EVERYTHING. Acting like this was Avengers Endgame and Cap just lifted Thor's Hammer. I've never seen anything like it. I was happy for them that they were enjoying it so much but it got to a point where it was almost annoying (and they weren't doing it in a mocking way either). Normally if the movie was amazing I wouldn't care, but this movie never really warranted or earned such reactions (except for the end credits scene). Pre-Credits this group of like 20 people even stood up and applauded. A standing ovation? for Black Adam??? The Batman didn't even get a standing O and thats a masterpiece compared to this.

Look, I've been going to the 1st showings of Marvel / DC / Star Wars (etc) films at my 1 of only 2 IMAX screens in my province for years now. I'm sure there are BIG DC fans out there, and i'm sure there are BIG Rock fans. But this reaction confused me. It didn't make sense. So I started to wonder... Would WB pay people to go see the movie and hype it up to get a better audience score? I know that sounds crazy to think but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. The movie hasn't been well received by critics. Looking at the other screenings this weekend at my theater and they are NOT full. So how do you get people to want to see the film? word of mouth and a positive audience score.

And I'm not saying this because I didn't like the film. I did like it and Im still saying this.

I know I sound crazy but I honestly wouldn't put it past them to do something this insane. haha.

Been saying that for years. In DC and IN MCU films. Why oh why ? And members here been dissing me for it. I used to read a lot of Marvel/DC comics back in the day. Kids did not save the day in them. Or even appear.

I even remember when i was younger watching things like The Lost World and thinking... "This would have been so much better without the kid in it." (I was 12 at the time)

You're right it happens a lot. Sometimes it can be ok depending on the film / way they are used but most of the time it drags the movie down.
