Is this more depth than transition effect?
Three levels of depth - the shark teeth (or whatever creature they're from) in the foreground, T'Challa in the middle ground and the motif design in the background.

Great-looking steelbook arrived today . . . nicely executed and better than expected with sharp as a pin lenti . . . and still available ....

As for the black and yellow pattern: don't know the significance of the design but it can be seen in the film on the dress worn by Nakia and could be 'tribal' . . . and there's also the obvious reference to one of Africa's most distinctive animals - the zebra:-

I feel like you are all winding me up.

This is awful. Got it this morning and it’s one of the worst. Lenti is brighter than the awful washed out steel. It has pointless bossing. And boring art

Jesus just scrap the lentis and give us gloss.

And I just find it hilarious that people are raving about 3 layers of lenti depth! Sorry are we in 1997?

Whilst they have got better (clearer) they seriously need to up their game. Blufans, nova, manta etc have a whole nervous system of layers for their lentis

I also don´t understand the positive wave this steelbook getting, I think it´s terrible both artwork and finish-wise. This is just pure streaky matte, I much prefer rich and full colors on Zavvi´s latest lenticulars of Thor and GotG2.

Closer look at the embossing (courtesy Steelbookpro) ... adding interest to the geometric background design which looks to be in a zero finish unlike T'Challa who appears matte repeating the style last seen on INFINITY WAR:-

The finish is nothing like the infinty war wwa finish

This is a plain streaky matte with the gold part being more metallic streaky matte.

The embossing is also quite shallow. Not that deep. Pretty pointless really

This is the only one among ZAVVI Marvel lenticular wave that I don't want to buy, because of the poor artwork and film itself.

Then don’t buy it. Millions of people around the world loved the movie. And btw, the 4K version of it is already sold out, so you couldn’t buy it even if you wanted too.

We even had one numpty claim the only reason it did so well theatrically was because all the “Blacks” who watched it. And when he faced backlash, actually repeated his foolishness by saying “Black Folk” will be the only ones buying this. What a f@cked up Trumpian moron.

I know which steelbook I prefer - masked or unmasked - and it ain't the first one despite its interesting ink-blot style and spot gloss finish *(US matte):-

As for the artwork: nicely symmetrical fresh image which I've not seen before on a BLACK PANTHER home video release - apart from on the Big Sleeve edition ... got me thinking if they'd used the Big Sleeve back artwork on the back on this steelbook then maybe there would have been a more positive reaction to the package:-

Conclusion: When all's said and done it's great to see the return of embossed artwork on a lenti steelbook ...

... although the steelbook is let down to a considerable degree by its finish - which here looks less zero background and matte T'Challa than matte everwhere when everything would have looked better in a zero finish - at least matte T'Challa can be covered by pin sharp lenticular T'Challa.

Looks like FYE picked some of the 3D+2D Steels up from Zavvi, selling them for $44.99!
