Saw The Wolfman last night... in summary, the blu-ray picture quality sucks. I don't care if it was intential but shadows were crushed in nearly all the dimlit scenes and indoor dark spaces.. just f*ckin' ruined it for me.
The audio, however, was nice. Dialogue was clearer than most movies these days and the surrounding soundscape was nice and enveloping.
I will hand it to the movie that it does take advantage of getting you to jump frequently and it is characteristically more intense than the classic style of horror scares we've seen over the last decade a la wes craven (slowly building intense music and then a loud bang with some sort of visual spook). This film takes that up a notch which was nice to see as being a fan of the original wolfman was pretty much expecting the same format.
Acting by Anthony Hopkins and Benicio Del Toro seemed to be just scratching the surface of potential. I honestly think the script held them back.
That's all.
