Blu-ray SteelBook Resource Thread

For all your Blu-ray SteelBook News, Definitive List, Region Coding and pics and such. Another site in our own web-ring.

Resources page shows difference of Metal Packaging for new folks who want to know the difference between Steelbooks, IronPacks, and Metal Paks

Here is an example of what is not a SteelBook ... notice the hinge down the spine. SteelBooks have a spine that is not split down the middle.

Typically, the one in the picture are usually what are considered MetalPaks and not sought after by SteelBook collectors.

Source of the picture is unknown, had it saved on my cpu for a very long time and originally found in google images.

That's how I found the forums here was from that site, but I had a question if anybody knows.

I heard that Best buy and Futureshop are owned from the same parent company. I cannot find anything on the web concerning this, but if it's true, then it disturbs me that BB will not release the same titles as FS does. It seems to me, they are always looking to make money and I think these would considering that Steelbooks usually sell out within a week most times.

It is true they are both owned by the same company, although they both have different lines of upper management ... execs etc. I think for those reasons, is why we dont see a ton of FS steels in BB ... I'm sure if thousandsssssss of people emailed BB corporate they might put something into action ... but yeah.

Has alot to do with why they also have Best Buys in Canada too ... I believe BB bought out FS after they made a Canadian store front presence. Like many buy outs, sometimes you leave stuff running as is due to public perception and brand recognition. Plus, it'd be hella expensive to change all those FS's into BB's.

Best you can do is send a message to bestbuy.com corporate.

DJ-here are some links with the news when they first merged. You can find more on the web if you'd like to investigate further.

Hi Buffalo-not sure how we would add that. It depends where a specific member, that is looking at the list is from, to determine, if any one of the retailers ship that person in that location. Please let me know if that is not what you meant...

And please suggest Mexico websites, so I can add them:)

Thank you!

Fortunately I have the option to order to USA so most of my online purchases are delivered to USA.

My suggestion was focused on shipping to USA availability but yes many international members visit the site and all of us can build the database

cdwow im not sure where they are located.im quite sure they post international.
they are not cheap though, edge of darkness blu steel £33.49 kick-ass pre-order uk steel £29.99EEK!

chaos.com australia ... only $2.50 shipping, even to USA and I think world-wide. Prices are usually high, but sometimes when they get low on SB stock they just drop the prices drastically to clearance them out. I've seen Knowing there before for $20.00 once.

I guess we need to add Wal-Mart to the list for US SteelBooks now that they are going to release Resident Evil 1-4 in SteelBook packaging on 8/31/10.
