''After finishing work on the 4K transfer of DUNE - THE DESERT PLANET, we, as it should be, contacted director David Lynch to ask him his opinion. After everything we had read in advance about his attitude towards the movie, we expected either none or an angry response to our request. But he wasn't like that. He wrote us an incredibly nice message about how great he thinks we are up to and that he wishes us all the best for the publication. A real gentleman right now!
We mourn the loss of one of the greatest filmmakers in film history and send our condolences to his family. At the same time, we look forward to publishing Mr. Lynch's masterpiece BLUE VELVET 2025 in 4K and imagine that this would have also received his kind of approval.''

The thing that used to screw me up the most about Blue Velvet wasn't Dennis Hoppers drug fume breathing psycho with a mommy complex, but rather it was the face Laura Dern pulls when she starts crying.
Hilarious and Horrific in equal measure. Scarred me for life.

On a serious note. Great film though. Probably cinemas only ever noir horror melodrama.
It's so easy to see how David Lynch got from this to Twin Peaks. A damn fine straight line.
