work has bonused me, so now I'm building a new rig, let me know your thoughts. Primarily will be doing a lot of encoding and music mixing so the graphics card got trumped in favor of overall processing power.

The meat:

  • ASUS Crosshair IV Formula mobo
  • AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2 GHz 6x512 KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Processor
  • Corsair XMS3 8 GB 1333 MHz PC3-10666 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit
  • OCZ Technology 60 GB Vertex 2 Series SATA II 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive

The potatoes:
  • Cooler Master RC-922M-KKN1-GP HAF 922M ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified PSU
  • Evga GeForce GT 430 1 GB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card
  • Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50 All in One High-performance CPU Cooler

I would probably get like a 40GB SSD and buy another SATA 6GB drive with a larger storage. The SSD would be used only for OS. Although I am not sure what the price difference is.

Guess I should have mentioned I have one WD cavier green 1TB drive, a couple 500gb drives, and a 300gb WD raptor from my old machine that would be moving into this one.

The SSD is simply for a boot drive. I wanna see my computer boot and be ready to go in a few seconds lol
