Thor 2 was my second ever steelbook.
The movie premiered on 11-7-13.
The cover release was on 1-2-14.
The preorder date from Best Buy was on 2-2-14.
Release date was 2-25-14.
My order came in the mail 3-4-14.
I know things are constantly changing in this business, but if things remain the same with Best Buy, we could be looking at a preorder date in August.

there is now a preorder link at best buy for a different 3D/2D Blu Ray offering, with image still to come. naturally this is different that the OTHER 3D/2D offering that is also on the page. it DOES NOT say steelbook, but I'm thinking they would NEVER have two completely different regular versions of a 3D/2D pack.

think i'm going to pull the trigger just in case.

I'd buy the JSDVD, but this version of BestBuy seems to me the best choice. And cheaper too. I'll keep an eye on this one.

Give it some time. Until yesterday there was not even that listing on website. It will get updated.

Also when mods in here say that something is getting a steelbook treatment then just take their word and not worry

i dunno. i don't think it is. usually on bestbuy, if its a steel book it'll always say in parentheses (BBY) next to the title of the movie. that always told me it was a bestbuy steel book. this one doesn't have it. but hopefully we'll know soon.

Just spoke with a BB rep, then a BB supervisor, who both indicated that the steelbook is NOT up yet on their site - "none currently listed is a steelbook". And that it will be closer to the release date of Sept. 9th that it will be listed - "That is when we release our steelbooks." The joy of BB.

Thanks for the update. I think people are forgetting the timeframes for the Thor steel(which you posted above too). We still have lots of time. Everything will be okay!

Yeah, I noticed that too and didn't pull the trigger. They usually limit to 3 so maybe the link will change. I'm not ordering just one in the mail. Too risky.
