Blockbuster is taken now pre orders.

A member over supervaca has posted that he pre order it and they asked him for which release he want:

DVD, BR, Steel BR+DVD, BR3D

I will confirm this options tomorrow.

Its too early to know if this will be a G1 or G2, my contact at Disney has now strong restrictions over the info that can be shared outside Disney office.

As long as it's a steelbook, whether it's G1 or G2 I'll still get it.
My kid loves this.

I have done some research about this.

Officially Blockbuster pre orders list does not include a explicit description about SteelBook or metal case.

Disney contact can not make any comments BUT as stated in the Canada Wave 2 Cars 2 definitvely is a working project to have the metal tratment down here.
