Blade Runner was a weird hybrid. People generally appreciated that it was "different" and could have potentially launched a series of semi-Premium releases, but pretty much everybody complained about the flimsy plastic packaging from the beginning. In hindsight this release is seen maybe even more positively than it deserves, because it has increased in value significantly AND what followed was mostly much much worse

I actually feel the same way. I don't like the design of the steelbook, but the poker chip looks great. If it's an actual poker chip I'm tempted too.

I just don’t get it. It blows my mind. The amount of praise ToC get on their twitter with these designs is disgusting. Honestly they will never learn or change or improve because they only need to look there for their creepy bum liking feedback. With a few idiots even wanting the ToC treatment on every bond and/or every Craig Bond movie. Seriously this company will never change. They are blindsided by twitter and most likely insta. It’s a joke

I find from reading 2 different forums that what people like here (I find this to be more of a European group) is not liked much over there (mainly folks from the U.S.) and the other way around.

The U.S. folks love the ToC SteelBooks.

Other SteelBooks they freaked out over:

Zack Snyder's Justice League with the "arms", they love it! And then there was widespread panic and pandemonium when shipping was delayed to customers who pre-ordered it and so far the SteelBook hasn't been stocked in stores.)

A Clockwork Orange not the ToC version (but they love that too) but the WWA. People were freaking out over there when it sold out during pre-order then when release day came it couldn't be ordered for shipping or in-store pick-up. It finally showed up in stores but by then it was already selling, not just listing, but selling, for almost $200 U.S on eBay before it hit the stores. The posts over there about this release are just nuts.

There are others. They love everything. I don't understand it.

Just kidding! I like the Dutch, they're great people.

I actually don't mind matte steelbooks, but it needs to be in tone with the art. My favorite type of finish is satin with spotgloss however.

I'd happily swap them ToC for Best Buy... their steels are the only ones that are consistently great lately IMO.

Because a lot of steelbook collectors are beyond OCD - lost count of the amount of times on here people have criticised steelbook designs or the overall package, yet still parted with good money and brought it.

Haha. My collecting has slowed right down..Each to their own, but really not sure how I feel about people who feel the need to get each and every release out there just for the sake of it.
Personally, it‘s only certain lines, and ‘special’ films that I collect - multiple releases of the same films, lacklustre designs, mismatching sets (Star Wars being a main offender) et al have all turned me off from the urge to have to spend good money on the same old tripe.

Don’t see why I should spend my hard earned cash when the designers out there don’t take the care on what should be premium products ..
