Or play it on your PSP, even. That is, if you have a Japanese PSN account. Today, Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII International on the PlayStation Network.

Final Fantasy VII International is how Square Enix re-released the new and improved American version in Japan on the PlayStation. The International version featured improvements like on-screen arrows, an enhanced management system and an added cut scene that helped explain Cloud's past.

The Japanese language game is priced at ¥1,500 (US$14.93) on the PSN.

Final Fantasy 1, Mega Man 1 on PSN in Japan

Japan?s PlayStation Network just received Square?s PSone-based remake of the first Final Fantasy. No plans have been made regarding its release outside Japan, but knowing Square Enix, we?ll probably soon have it available for ourselves. The bonus content for the GBA and PSP versions of Final Fantasy 1 are not in this port.

Mega Man 9 has been out for quite a while, but not on the PlayStation Network in Japan, which is just now getting the 8-bit adventure. There is a contest with its release, and the winners will receive a downloadable remake of Mega Man 1. Strangely enough, the contest is currently the only way to get this remake. It seems odd that Capcom would go to the trouble to remake an entire game just for the sake of a contest. It?s very likely that the original Mega Man will be available for purchase in Japan and other countries later.

Yoichi Wada Confirms Final Fantasy IX (9) For the PSN

Square Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada has today confirmed that Final Fantasy IX will be releasing as a PSN download via a six-second Twitter video.

Which PSN territories the announcement covers is a mystery for now, but the game's Japanese PlayStation Store launch is pretty much set in stone.

Pricing and dates are sure to follow in a subsequent official announcement, we would imagine.

Final Fantasy IX (9) PSN dated for Japan

Square Enix has confirmed via Twitter that the hotly anticipated PSN release of Final Fantasy IX will finally be released in Japan on May 20.

While a price point wasn’t announced, Square’s Shinji Hashimoto further added that the company would lift the lid on an international release date soon. He also unveiled a video of the classic RPG running on the PSP.

Final Fantasy IX originally hit the PSone back in 2000 and went on to sell a meaty 5.30 million copies worldwide, though didn’t quite match the dizzying commercial heights of its predecessors. Nonetheless, it has maintained a strong following among fans and currently holds a 94% review average on Metacritic.

Final Fantasy IX Coming Soon to PlayStation Store

Following up to the fan favorite release of FFVII and FFVIII, PS3 and PSP owners will have a new and exciting opportunity to immerse themselves, once again, into the world of Final Fantasy.

Considered by many gamers to be a must-play title for any RPG fan, FFIX will soon to be available for North American fans via the PlayStation Network. If you missed Final Fantasy IX during the early PlayStation era, or are dreaming of reliving the time-tested FFIX adventure, your chance is coming soon.
Sit tight and keep your eye on the PlayStation.Blog for important announcement information, including the release date, coming soon!

Garnet wants to be kidnapped right away, and while that's all fine and good in Europe, where Final Fantasy IX is now available for purchase on the PlayStation Network, here in North America we must ignore her desperate pleas.

Japan got a PlayStation Network version of Final Fantasy IX on May 20, and now the game goes up for sale in Europe today, with an asking price of 270 Czk, according to Kotaku reader Michalis. That's Czech Republic Koruny, for those of you unused to the wonders of international currency.

So it's next week for North America then, hopefully? We've already passed our regular Tuesday PlayStation Store update, after all. I would have preferred to have Vivi and friends on hand for the long Memorial Day weekend, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

Congratulations, Europe! You've won the day.

But we'll be back.

Look for Final Fantasy IX to hit the US PSN Store next Tuesday, June 15th for $9.99. For more information on Final Fantasy IX, please visit the official site.
