Wes Eckhart, producer of Red Alert 3: Commander’s Challenge, has today announced on the European Playstation Blog that the title will be hitting Playstation Network this coming Thursday 17th September.

Whilst we’re sure a few of you may have not heard of the title, it follows in similar fashion to that of the original Red Alert 3 – allowing you to choose between the three factions; Allies, Soviets and the Empire of the Rising Sun. Included within the game are 50 single player missions, each pitting you against one of many specialised AI personalities, whom will utilise different tactics to aim to defeat you.

Upon completing any of these missions, you will then be granted access to several new missions, as well as unlocking a new unit. As with previous Command and Conquer world maps, if you get stuck on one mission you will then easily be able to attempt others before returning to it at a later time – with additional units of course.

The player will also be able to switch factions at any time – so your initial choice shouldn’t cause too many issues.

Whilst this was announced on the Playstation Blog, we’re sure that this means the title will be hitting Xbox Live this week too we guess – but we’ll keep an eye out for clarification.
