I agree, but I also have another view. I only enter the threads of movies I want. For me at least, it's just as much as the person posting as voting. It's funny too, I may not have as much as others but I am just as big of a fan as the "wealthier, dedicated" collectors. Sometimes it's unfair to the fans because we can't afford all the extra goodies that others can. That's my 2 cents.

I totally agree, I mean there is reason ... I'm not saying someone has to have 20 editions of a movie to qualify ... but for example if you got just one alien box set, then really you should have more to be considered for the award. If I see a person with the Alien movies, but then they ALSO have all the slipcover editons or something ... then it does state they are a fan because the wanted something a bit extra.

I have come up with something tho that can help in regards to those only wanting the mega collections to get awards etc. It won't affect anything going on right now. *coming soon*

definately a disney one, there is so many disney steelz and viva pack and stuff out there, i think its a pretty cool thing to have every disney steel edition

I agree to a certain extent. I think it has more to do with what's higher on your priority list or my priority list, etc.

For example....there are awards that I won't get because I don't have those steelbooks in my collection or may only have one. It's because that's not a steelbook or a collection that I want. On the other hand, I may place a priority on getting every Fast & furious steelbook, blu ray, etc. Or may have a bunch of transformers steels/stuff.
I guess I just understand that there will be awards I won't get and I'm fine with that. I also have some awards that I really want to get.

so yeah, there will be people with different awards and I guess I like that every single person on the site won't all have the same awards.

The plan that I'm thinking is to have like a Extreme Dedication award ... it is awarded to those who have extreme collections on a particular movie. ie. Elena's Hulk , Collector's Batman etc. So while all the current awards are still here and a challenge; they are within grasp. The Extreme Dedication Award is awarded only by HDN staff and can hold a bit more prestige. It's also open to any and every movie.

A fan club, to me not only he/she got the most collection but extensive info and knowledge on the items/movies.

One might not have the ability to acquire all of the released items but if one can provide with adequate information regards to all the releases. I would totally agreed that he/she is the ultimate fans of the items/movies.
This of course will be earn by voting or thanks by members who benefited from the information provided.

I would not call myself a fan of particular movies or character as I really have little knowledge or information of the movies/item. But I like to collect movies or items that catches my eyes when I first look at it. That's why I have few version of a single movie.

It's the efforts and time one place in the movies/item that he/she really fancy about that count. Not the whole collection or the most collectible one have.

Above is just my own definition of a "FAN CLUB", as I've seen many dedicated person really puts in time and efforts to get that kind of information. You may not agree with me.

No, I agree ... but these are fan clubs in a sense of gaining rewards on collecting. Your definition is perfect for the general idea of a fan club. I think we've found a good medium in allowing the community to vote and allow people to join these fun little award clubs. While at the same time implementing something for the incredible *coming*.

Ultimately, it's really all my fault for the confusion as I didnt know what to name the threads and should have never named them fan clubs and instead should have said "Collector Thread" ie. Hulk Collector Thread [HDN Award] ... I should probably adjust that so it makes more sense. thx for pointing that out whether you meant to or not. ;0

That is such an awesome idea! I consider myself a fan of many movies BUT those people with such an impressive dedication deserve something SPECIAL for their collection... sickness... crazyness... whatever

I guess this is a brilliant idea of bringing it up this fan club thingy.
HDN have it's own definition of "Fan Club", this is to show how many passionate people out there collecting what they like and chase after what they wanted. I like the process of chasing after the item rather than having them in my collection for a long time.

I like the way this community is willing to share the information here, lots of great people and should commemorate them by issuing them the title.

True, I just always knew it couldnt be easily obtainable for all otherwise it would be a nightmare on the back end as I have to go in manually and give out these awards. I have fun doing it, but right now I'm supposed to be working on something else for the site that is coming up for ninja week!

Can I just make a very small point, Wreck, as I know you are doing your damnedest not to piss folks off, but moving the goalposts from 10 to 15 to 20 to 30 then 40 isn't always gonna be the solution. There may be folks would get to 1 below and the posts move and it can become a little of a dis-incentive. Just my 2 cents. Mind I think the awards should have a higher threshold as long as it doesn't affect other awards.

Although, I'm not a fan of Harry Potter... but I know a lot of others are and there's probably some great HP collections out there to be shared.

Fair point mate. I can see where you're coming from, but that's what's fun about collecting IMO - the hunt and saving up for those special items. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it as much if everything was easy to obtain... I like the struggle, and then that feeling you get once you finally get your hands on a rare item.

I also think what Wreck said about people being less generous with their votes is a good point. Although, I feel bad if I don't give everyone's picture/collection a thumbs up.

I've got to say that I agree. At first, I was giving "Thanks" to pretty much everyone, but now, it need more than just amaray to make you a collector. We're on a steelbook fansite first and I'll give my upcoming thanks to steelbook and special collectibles only!

But again, if you're like me and you're a fan of pretty much ALL the listed categories and that you have some steelz + a little something like I do, well then, I'll considerer you a fan like I am

Fair point about the voting even though I also hate leaving folk out even on just for fun stuff, and I definitely think Wrecks Idea for the Ultimate award voted by the staff is an excellent way to recognise some of the stunning collections on show.
