Are you using an outlook/msn/hotmail email address by any chance? There was an issue with them in the past (not sure if it was ever resolved) where HDN emails were falsely reported as spam and therefore got blocked, so it was recommended people switch to using a different email provider... I've since started using Gmail and had no issues.
I use Yahoo and can't remember having such issues, yet, once again last year (2024) had some issues but of another kind, that I could not reach/load any webpages here on HDN, no matter the machine (mobile, desktop, etc.) or browser used. Back then, Andy told me were some issues with the site and some hackers (if I recall correctly), but then all got fixed.
Now it seems that ALL the threads and pages I am/was subscribed for, I have to re-do the subscription (unfollow + follow once again), and then I get the messages in my e-mail.

Thanks for sharing the info! :thanks:

Going through all the threads where I might had participated and/or subscribed to, because I did not received ANY notification ANYMORE for some time now

... I got to this and figured I should send you a reminder, @apsmith21.

The reason we do this is because e-mail servers have something called a "bounce rule". We have to stop sending e-mails to them if this rule gets triggered or they will put us on a block list. Since this feature on the forum is now doing it automatically, you'll get something like this here in that case.

First off, thanks for the info, appreciated!

Sure thing, I understand and agree this kind of rule should exist.
Yet, WHY or HOW that I (my e-mail address / account) has been triggered is the question now, because for sure I didn’t do any changes on the e-mail or HDN account, and ended up like stated above.

Now, after re-doing all the subscriptions again, it seems that I am able to receive (and I do receive) messages when there are new posts in the subscribed threads.

I would like to know what was the cause, especially if that was something that I could prevent or do something about it before HDN gets the “bounces” that trigger the NO-NEW-MAIL rule.

From what we've seen before, it's something that another person with a yahoo e-mail reports as spam. So instead of unsubscribing, they report the e-mail as a spam and the e-mail servers from there put their own rules in play to limit the receipt of e-mails.

Once you get on this list, the forum software itself then requires you to opt-in to any e-mails you'd like to resume receiving.

Thanks Andy for all this.
So, from what I understand, some HDN members, that have Yahoo (and not just) e-mail accounts, instead of unsubscribing from some HDN threads/forums, they do press (and report) those no longer wanted messages as SPAM...
If that (my understanding) is right/correct, then I believe those HDN members are either VERY BAD with technology in general (I can't really believe this), especially for working with a computer/phone OR they are MALEVOLENT.
And why do I dare to say this? Because I believe those that are here on HDN are quite tech-savvy for one, and (or, even the not tech-savvy) would KNOW that they only need to NOT GO to that thread (not click the link in message) and will no longer receive followup messages. And this, in time, clearly this behavior would lead them to not receive any messages from HDN. But NO, they HAVE to press that SPAM button.
If you NO LONGER WANT something that previously wanted (and subscribed for e-mail notifications), there's no reason to put ENTIRE HDN WEBSITE and its member to jeopardy just because you're LAZY and NOT CARE about anyone else. A$h0les!

(sorry guys if I went little overboard :sorry::naughty:)

You shouldn't assume it's something being done intentionally, email can be very archaic and the way some black/grey lists work is idiotic.

I understand this point of view too.... yet, I believe there's always „a human” (in error or not) that leads to all the bad things (as also to the best things too).
Somehow, I do trust „machines” better than some people; if a machine (some lists or e-mail servers in this instance) do something wrong, then definitely is a human (or more) behind that made errors in configuring/setup/maintaining that machine.
The same, I trust more the possibility some „users” pressed that SPAM button, intentionally or not, before trusting the scenario you suggested. Adding to this the happening that I have to say about me, when, I think (if I recall correctly) several years ago, I also pressed the SPAM button, by mistake, since it is VERY-NEXT to the DELETE button. But I also recall realizing this and going to the SPAM folder and marking that e-mail as NOT-SPAM right away.

Therefore, I believe it can happen unintentionally... but I also believe (more) that people are plain and simple CARELESS with MANY aspects of daily lives, which definitely ends up in NUMEROUS mistakes (I've seen so many native speakers that pure and simple torment and destroy the English, mistaken TOO MANY words that sounds similar, to the point they seemed pure analphabet despite they clearly were not, just completely ignoring it all together).

I didn’t like the artwork. Found ‘fantasybox’, bought their ‘unauthorised’ Constantine and Constantine 2 Steelbook combo (I said they were unauthorised…) arrived yesterday and I rather like them.
