Shout on a roll with steelbook releases last year and this year be interesting to see what else they have planned for steelbook releases in 2018/2019

Hopefully UHD....
And hopefully the THEATRICAL CUT.
For a long time the only cut available has been the Extended Cut. While the extended cut is interesting- it is a flawed version (the pace of the movie is completely destroyed) and it is NOT the version that people fell in love with and won the Academy Award.
When a movie wins the BEST PICTURE Academy Award - the version of the movie that WON THE AWARD should always be the available version.
(Costner had no hand in the extended version- it was prepared by producer Jim Wilson).
-Imagine if the only available versions of Godfather 1 & 2 was the cronological Godfather saga? -
I love that there is an extended version to watch as an afterthough - but when people see DANCES WITH WOLVES for the first time (or ever) it should be the Oscar winning 3 hour cut.

Shout not done any UHD releases yet for back catalog films and could be a while before you see that happen
They have done nature/history documentary UHD releases only so far they have the distribution rights for
It's lot cheaper to do UHD release with the nature documentary releases

They are a independent distributor they have to pay a licence fee to the film studios to do the back catalog releases same as what Arrow Films have to do

Cost of doing a UHD release is lot more expensive for independent distributors compared to likes of the big film studio distributors Warner/Fox/Sony/Disney

Distributors like Shout/Arrow want to sell as much units as possible and there is not enough take up yet of UHD for the independent distributors to go with UHD at the moment for wide release in terms of units

They will eventually do UHD with back catalog films they have to licence from film studios but will wait until sales are healthy enough so it will not affect what they get from DVD/Blu-ray release sales in comparison

This is why a lot of the distributors like Shout/Arrow/88 Films/Criterion/Eureka/Second Sight/Indicator not done UHD yet of mainstream films that they have to pay a licence fee to the film studios

I think a movie like DWW should have a UHD edition sooner rather than later... It fits the bill for it.
Although, I don't know if any Orion films have yet gotten the UHD treatment.

You have better chance of seeing a UHD release if MGM/Fox in USA decide on doing a 4K release or Warner decide on one in the UK

Don't know if this is final but not what I was expecting for a steelbook . . . looking as it does more Amaray style art than steelbook:-

Even though used on the German Amarays as well as the 2011 German steelbook I find this artwork more steelbook-friendly (from the days of proper old school pull tab cellophane instead of cheapo easily torn shrinkwrap):-

...says the one with "go indians" in sig.:thumbs:.

Hope for 4K also. Otherwise no buy as it's region locked. Extented cut as extra would be cool ...
