I hope Arrow is able to release a Dawn steel, but no worries from me if they can't. The JP Dawn set is even more complete than the Arrow slipbox edition. Only problem is that the JP set is ~$120 with shipping.

That's not possible
Arrow Video no longer have the distribution licensing rights to Dawn of the Dead and is OOP (Out of Print)

No Re-Prints are allowed and only way to get Arrow Video Blu-ray of Dawn of the Dead is by purchasing existing stock which is only available from third party sellers most are very high prices

Slightly off topic

For those who don't know, Producer Richard P Rubinstein is in the process of remastering and converting Dawn of the Dead into 3D. Not sure if it will be out this Halloween as he stated that it will take about a year to convert. No idea what cut either but presume its the theatrical cut (the extended cut was a work in progress cut and is a bit rough round the edges, Romero states that the theatrical cut is his directors cut)

So hopefully those wanting a steelbook of this might find one when this version arrives.

That all sounds good

Fingers crossed for a 3D steel.

Sounds like a horrible idea. Dawn of the Dead does not need a 3D treatment. I thought some movies were safe from the 3D plague.

This would have been gone in no time if it was Dawn of the Dead but even then l was expecting this to do well. I guess a lot of collectors wanted Dawn first, it's a shame Arrow lost the rights to Dawn of the Dead.

shouldn't the artwork say first there was day of the dead as we are getting this on steelbook first ;)

As said before this will he the first and only one if Arrow don't have the rights. I'm just happy to get this one!:D I didn't expect this to sell out too quickly, 3000 copies is still a fairly large print and this isn't going to appeal to everyone.

This most likely will sell out at some stage
3000 is only 1000 short of usual 4000 print run

This should be available to order even after release date
If this sells out before arrow video will be happily surprised

If it was only 2000 then yes would sell out faster for obvious reasons

What's important to me is it includes the DVD disc that comes with the main extras as Zavvi description looks like copy and paste from previous release and would mean its a 3 disc release
1 Blu-ray and 2 DVDs

I wonder when will we see the inside artwork

The last time I spoke to Arrow they told me that specs were still being finalised, but I highly doubt this will be a 3 disc release and I'd be very surprised if it will be a 2 disc release

They cant really leave out the DVD extras disc as 95% of the extras are on that disc

Arrow Video Release with no extras that would be against what Arrow Video are known for brilliant extras

Zavvi also as usual could end up again getting lot of complaints if description of goods for sale not matching that is something I doubt arrow video would want to happen with one of their releases

Arrow are still finalising the specifications so we know nothing at this point in time. Once Arrow have finalised everything we will be told. With regards to the specifications on the product page, Zavvi are at fault for doing their standard 'copy and paste' from Arrow before getting all of the details in from Arrow about the release.

Having said that, it's happened plenty of times when a steelbook release of an existing amaray release has omitted the extras disc so for all we know this could be a 1 disc release.

Then they would have to send out the disc separately like they did with the extra blu-ray disc in the Wickerman steelbook.

They wouldn't have to do anything if Zavvi only want to release it as a 1 disc release

Then they would have to change the current description or they would have to send out the disc. That is exacty what happened with their Wickerman release. It was described as a two blu-ray set with both versions but was released as a one disc. They had to send out second discs to all buyers.

I'll never know why Zavvi are so quick to jump the gun with their listings. I don't know why they cant just wait until they have enough information before they put a product up for sale on their site.

These are usually items that are months away from release date. Surely they can't be that hard up for sales that they have to rush the items up months in advance for preorder???

Wicker Man was different. There was a mix up between Studio Canal and Zavvi and that was always advertised as being a full 2 disc release, with some mis-communication somewhere which ended up with what happened. Studio Canal were the ones who sent out the discs as a gesture of goodwill.

Like I have said previously, the specs are not finalised yet with Arrow but all Zavvi have done is copy the existing info from Arrow. I have been told this as I deal directly with Arrow for reviews and PR info for Hi-Def Ninja so I trust what they say. Once the info has been confirmed they have told me we will be told and everything will be updated accordingly.

Arrow will always post specifications via their blog, Facebook, Twitter etc for every single release they work on (whether it be standard releases or these steelbook re-releases) so rest assured everything will be clear soon. All I am saying is, if Arrow and Zavvi deicide to release this as a 1 disc BD release then don't be surprised.
