Dead Rising is a action-adventure, survival horror video game with RPG elements developed by Capcom and produced by Keiji Inafune.

Dead Rising's story centers on Frank West, a photojournalist who ends up trapped in a shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado, that is infested with zombies. Frank must defend himself from zombie attacks, rescue survivors and avoid crazed psychopaths, while still attempting to uncover the truth behind the incident. The player controls Frank as he explores the mall, using any available object as a weapon. The player can complete several main and optional missions to earn experience points and gain special abilities. The game is designed as a sandbox game and features several endings, depending on the decisions the player makes along the way.

Dead Rising 2 Themed Costume DLC Unveiled

5055123627_bcfc45f4e7_b.jpg

Psychopath Theme Pack: (Available from October 13), which sees Psycho Chuck sporting a new ?insane? look complete with blood-stained apron and hockey mask that will apparently make him more difficult to kill somehow. He'll also get an array of brutal weapons such as chainsaws, meat cleavers and axes.

5055744544_490c99f879_b.jpg

Soldier of Fortune Theme Pack: (Available from October 20) will hit the Marketplace, giving Chuck a Rambo-style soldier costume granting double ammo, increased shooting accuracy, more firepower and increased headshot accuracy as well as a new special attack when using automatic weapons.

5055747358_d3e769c5ed_b.jpg

Sports Theme Pack: (Available from October 27) increases the damage Chuck deals when using sports-themed weapons and so items like golf balls, basketballs and so on bounce more before stopping, enabling you to hit more zombies. Chuck also has a new charge and tackle attack for taking zombies down. Chuck will also earn more from gambling, gain more health while eating and drinking (especially alcohol) and not get sick from drinking to excess, like a proper jock.

5055738578_de18961632_b.jpg

Ninja Theme Pack: (Available from November 3) enables you to create Ninja Chuck with a new ?stealth mode? where zombies need to get closer to Chuck before detecting his presence. Consequently, Chuck is harder for the zombies to grab and take down, and Chuck?s damage is increased with sword-type weapons like katanas and broadswords. He also gets special attacks with swords. Stackable items and throwing items (nails, plates, gems, etc.) will also do added damage as Chuck?s throwing speed is increased.

There's no pricing confirmed for the packs as yet, but you will be able to mix and match the items from the packs, so if you want to dress Chuck in ninja sandals with a psycho hockey mask and camouflage slacks, then you can. Look out for them from October 13th on the PlayStation Store.

It’s press release day, thanks to Capcom for confirming that Dead Rising 2 is on its way. Dead Rising 2 is in development for the PS3. The press release says that Dead Rising 2 will take the franchise to a new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies, the all new gambling paradise of Fortune City to explore and conquer plus a host of new in-game objects that can all be used as deadly weapons to stave off the zombie assault.

“Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the infamous zombie invasion of Willamette,” it continues. “Unfortunately, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising, spreading unchecked throughout the United States and Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike.” The game is being developed by up and coming Canadian developer Blue Castle Games. A number of members from the original Dead Rising team will be working alongside Blue Castle Games throughout the development process, including Capcom’s global head of research and development, Keiji Inafune, who as the game’s Producer will play an active role in the project.

We await further details…

Multiplayer Confirmed! New Screens

Capcom R&D kingpin Keiji Inafune has confirmed that Dead Rising 2 features multiplayer after all, despite confusion at GDC earlier this year.

"We're at a point in game history that you need to have some form of multiplayer component in a game," Inafune told journalists at Captivate 09 in Monaco last week.

"Single-player alone is not going to cut it. So rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game, but I can't go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don't want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer, so keep that in mind."

Inafune held court over an hour-long demonstration of the survival horror sequel, revealing that development partner Blue Castle Games manages to do 7,000 zombies on-screen at once - and showing us that in action.

You can read more about that demo and all the treats Dead Rising 2 has in store (double-chainsaw-fronted motorbikes, anyone?) in our extensive Dead Rising 2 preview, and check out the gameplay footage on Eurogamer TV.

Capcom not showing Dead Rising 2 again until TGS 09

Those of you hoping to clap eyes on Dead Rising 2 anytime soon in wake of the game?s absence at E3 are in for a disappointment ? Capcom has revealed it has no plans to showcase the zombie sequel again until the Tokyo Game Show.

Essentially, this means we won?t be seeing the title appear at both Gamescon and the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), which take place in August and September, respectively.

?You?re gonna be seeing Dead Rising 2 next at Tokyo Game Show,? Capcom?s Chris Kramer told MTV. ?Lost Planet 2 will have all new stuff at Tokyo Game Show, and also a couple new titles from us, as well as updates of the stuff we showed at E3.?

Dead Rising is due out on PlayStation 3. A release date has yet to be announced.

The folks over at Capcom Unity posted a screenshot of the upcoming horror game Dead Rising 2. The image is pretty gruesome and more than a little odd: we see someone attacking zombie-like creatures with antlers that are attached to a helmet.

This pre-TGS teaser is a nice treat and certainly gets us excited about Dead Rising 2, even though the game is not scheduled for release until 2010 on PlayStation 3.

Multi-player Details!

Link

Right now at an exclusive event in Shibuya, Tokyo, Capcom, in collaboration with Microsoft, is unveiling the first details on Dead Rising 2’s multiplayer mode plus giving invited guests the opportunity to go hands on with this and the single player game for the very first time.

Terror is Reality is the TV show that has American audiences glued to their seats as they watch four members of the public compete in a series of zombie killing challenges; Dead Rising 2’s Chuck Greene is one such contestant.

Dead Rising 2 allows up to four players to go head to head online in their very own Terror is Reality event to determine who is the ultimate zombie slayer.

Dead Rising 2 producer wants multiple endings

Dead Rising 2 producer Keiji Inafune has expressed his desire to include multiple game endings in the Capcom zombie sequel.

Speaking to the chaps at IGN, Inafune observed that one of the many elements that impressed gamers in the original title was the ability to unlock additional ending sequences, something which he’d like to see repeated in the sequel.

“Definitely one of the things people seemed to like with the first Dead Rising game was that there were multiple endings, and so I personally would love to be able to put in multiple endings in this game,” said Inafune.

Don’t get your hopes up yet, though – the game’s still too early in development for Inafune and his team to issue a definitive answer on the subject: “We haven’t officially gotten to that point in the game where we decide one way or the other, so all I can say right now that it’s my desire to do that in the game, but at this point I can’t officially say yes or no,” he said.

Dead Rising 2 is due out on PlayStation 3 in 2010.

Dead Rising 2 due out this year

Capcom has announced that zombie sequel Dead Rising 2 will be released in Japan this calendar year.

As it stands this is the first we’ve heard anything on the game’s release date since its unveiling last March, with Capcom previously refusing to commit to a specific launch window.

Hopefully this bodes well for a western launch, as recent big hitters in the publisher’s line-up have made the transition to North America and Europe mere weeks (or days, in the case of Resident Evil 5) after launching in Japan.

Elsewhere, the firm also revealed that it plans to release a live action movie based on the franchise, titled “Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun.” Sounds undead delicious to us.

Stay tuned for more info on Dead Rising 2 in the coming months.

Dead Rising 2 'Zombrex' edition heading to Europe

Capcom has revealed that it is bringing the previously North American-exclusive Dead Rising 2 Zombrex edition to European territories.

The Zombrex edition includes extra goodies such as a Making of DVD, Steelbook case and Zombrex syringe pen. Not as much as the US version, mind, which features a heap of other content. As previously reported, Europe will also be getting its hands on the Dead Rising 2 Outbreak edition, which includes an assortment of goodies such as 12" zombie figurine and download token.

Dead Rising 2 will be shambling on to store shelves throughout Europe on October 2 for PS3.

That seems like a small background, at E3 they had a huge mural with actors dressed as zombies and one of them was in a cage. You could take a picture it was really cool.

Mobius, I saw that deal, but Newegg will charge me taxes and shipping so by the end of the checkout it will cost me as much as going to Best Buy lol I'll just wait for Amazon to do some type of deal.
