It’s great if you don’t own the movies already, and don’t mind that once 2020 comes this won’t be complete any longer. But I think this is a totally unnecessary Blu-ray release when almost 10% of the movies come as DVD only.

I've been buying all the steelbooks from Zavvi all alone so I don't need it. To be honest some serious gaps in that set notably Song of the South. But since it's now banned I'm not really surprised.

I'm interested in this for the 80-page book ‘A Celebration Of The Walt Disney Animated Studios
I'm not interested though in spending £250 when I already have majority of the films on Blu-ray already as steelbooks and a few others as amaray releases with slipcovers.

I will wait for a huge price drop before I will consider getting this
It's also missing bonus extras discs from a few films so that's not good

Not PC - bit like with the Tintin books w/ "Tintin in the Congo" not released in the UK when I used to buy the hardbacks back in the day - and not even listed on the back of any of the books as being part of the collection .. . finally released not long ago and managed to grab a copy in the 2000s to complete the 24 volume set.

Possible release for SONG OF THE SOUTH in these more enlightened times with a disclaimer in the style of what they put up before showing certain golden oldies on our Talking Pictures channel. "Contains outdated racial attitudes which may offend etc." . . .

. . . but then again may still be some time - going by this snippet from 2011:-

"No SONG OF THE SOUT Blu-ray in the Cards

Posted March 28, 2011 02:17 AM by Juan Calonge

Walt Disney StudiosDuring the latest annual meeting of Shareholders of The Walt Disney Company, a shareholder asked about a Blu-ray release of Song of the South for its 65th anniversary. Once again, the reply from Disney CEO Robert Iger was that, even though they do consider that movie from time to time, "it wouldn't be the right thing for the company to do" because there are elements in the movie that wouldn't "feel right to a number of people today."

This 1946 Disney movie has never been released on home video because the studio fears that its portrayal of racial stereotypes could be offensive to part of the public, even when considering the historical context the movie was made in."

Not like this title would be new to the home market with VHS copies readily available . . .

. . . and in these so-called "enlightened times" seems things are a bit topsy turvey when most of the so-called "Video Nasties" from the 1980s are freely available nowadays but films that are perceived as racist are withheld.

Hate to say this but I don't see it happening. Look at the fiasco with Tom And Jerry Volume 2. Warner won't budge and I can see Disney being equally bloody minded.

This collection mentions 55 classics... thought there were 56 with the latest being Moana. I’m assuming they’re leaving out Dinosaur. I think the U.K. classics List Includes The Wild but leaves out Dinosaur and in the USA it’s the other way. Guess they’re leaving out both of them for this release. Do I have this correct? Wonder why they leave out Dinosaur as according to my search it’s produced by and computer animated by Disney. The wild was produced by Disney but animated by another company. Curious if anyone knows the story on those 2 films.

Moana is classic 55 in the UK list.
The list differed from the US list with the Wild being one of them in the U.K. list
Dinosaur and the most recent Winnie the Pooh movie are missing from the UK list

Song of the South is not on a classic list anywhere. The classics are only the animated features

Disney UK go by the UK Disney canon list of films

Disney UK canon is different to USA canon
UK the films Dinosaur (2000) and Winnie the Pooh (2011) these are not disney classics as per UK canon
The Wild is Disney Classic (46) in the UK

The USA disney classic list has a couple of differences to the UK list with Dinosaur at no.39 and Winnie The Pooh at no.51. The UK features neither of these but includes The Wild at no.46 which doesn't feature at all on the USA list

This is why the Disney Classic numbering is different between USA and UK after Disney Classic number 38 (Fantasia 2000)

Song of the South
It's a live-action animated film and would not be in a Disney Classics box set even if disney decided to un ban the film from getting a re-release as it's not part of the disney classic canon list of films.

It's very unlikely Disney will do a re-release on home media for Song of the South

Looks nice and is definitely worth the price if you work it out (see @Dhiraj1's post above). I already own steelbooks for most of these films though, plus they'll obviously be future Disney films that won't fit in this edition, so it's a pass for me unfortunately.

After some careful though and going through my Disney collection nice though this is I think I will pass.
The book does look great, like Paul states it would be great to have it on its own

I love sets like this, and this looks really pretty. However, I don't like it when they include books that you can buy separately, and I assume this book will be made available later on since it's from DK. I also feel like a box set for a series that will probably continue on until the end of time is really pointless since it will always be incomplete. I think for stuff like this it would be better if they did box sets by decade or something.

Still, I might bite if the price goes down.
