Oh I do like art. I grew up in Bristol and was lucky enough to buy many Banksy pieces between 2002 and 2010. I have sold some but kept my favourites. Art is a sound investment AND right now is the time to buy if you're serious you can start with the Urban Art Association they're a (mostly) friendly bunch. In recent years I've purchased a couple of pieces by Invader, Ai Weiwei and a bunch of Damien Hirst - he has an open edition at the moment but personally I find them gaudy and a little tacky.

My favourite is my Choose your Weapon (You like limited editions? it's one of 25 in existence)

You're quiet correct though, buying and selling art has made me a lot of money. It's something I fell into just because, as a student, I liked Banksy a lot.. I've only ever purchased what I like and as I need space for new pieces I sell the older pieces (sometimes at Auction, sometimes through Artsy) I'm not so fond of.
As I said now is the time to buy, there's a discord too if you'd like an invite?

EDIT: Why do I like steelbooks? I thought Blu-Ray would be the last physical media so I wanted to keep the discs in steelbooks because I prefer them to the plastic cases. It costs me maybe a couple of hundred pounds a month - people probably spend more on smoking?
Oh I watch films but that's obvious because I like them enough to buy them right? At the moment we just go to the cinema or stream stuff... the reason I want a Plex server is because the quality of streaming is so poor..
You know all those discs you have 5 of in all the multiple copies you need for some reason. They play movies you know.

Honestly you sound like you are full of **** to me. Oooh I am so rich and I make money buying and selling art and I don't have time to open a steelbook cos I am always on holiday and for some reason I buy 3 - 5 copies of all my Steelbooks cos... Even though I have never actually opened one. Like why do you even come here?

I like to travel, who doesn't? I work too. I'll get rid of the surplus one day. I aways liked the idea of Netflix etc but the compression is terrible, I started buying to enable me to stream video at a high quality; as simple as that. It's been 10 years since I started and priorities change that doesn't mean I had to stop what I started. Not sure why you care?

Buying multiples arose because you often can't get a replacement if they arrive damaged. So the thing you cherish about steenboks (limited availability) is the reason I order multiple

I'm in the middle of buying a new house, we have a room in mind for a home cinema so maybe I'll finally get round to it in the coming months or maybe I never will... you seem more concerned about it than me.

Collecting steelbooks is a hobby I guess, after Uni I built a career around my lifelong interest and that will always take priority.

I come here because it aggregates news on steelbook releases and browsing for a few minutes keeps me informed. I do the same with Art.

You clearly enjoy dressing as a cartoon dog and getting pounded into a mattress, if that makes you happy what do I care? I guess the take home message is grow up, your mass produced tat can and should be enjoyed by everyone :)

@Basil Do you have any artists in mind?

My avatar is a cartoon cat actually. And I have an anthropomorphic cartoon cat as my avatar cos I like it. I don't dress up as one lol. And you can do whatever the hell you like, it makes no difference to my life at all. But there is just something about the way you collect that irks me, the fact that you seem to hoard them, don't open them, makes me think you just don't appreciate them, hell it seems like you have never even looked at them, you don't seem to buy them to watch either. It makes the way you collect just seem soulless.

Sorry, I thought that was a fury thing.

I didn't start with the intention of hoarding them haha but I guess you're not wrong. I have 15 "really useful" boxes full of them. The intention was to rip the discs and have uniform, heavy duty metal boxes with nice art to store them in that would look good on a shelf.

As I said priorities change, I have other interests that, for now, require my free time, I don't mind, I enjoy that stuff more at the moment.

Releases of catalogue titles have slowed so I don't buy as many as I used to. Honestly, you'll probably hate to read it but I haven't even opened the shipping boxes for the last year or two.. I order them individually and trust one will be delivered in good condition. I've made the situation worse for myself because I now upgrade to 4K and that's resulted in having multiple designs for single films (Indiana Jones and Gladiator for example).

We collect for different reasons. To me they are nicer storage for discs to you they are more. That's fine. There are those who buy art who really dislike people who flip it, should care less about what other people do if it doesn't hurt them.

I sniff a LARP.
Everyone should be genetically hardwired nowadays to believe absolutely nothing said on internet forums, unless there's concrete factual evidence corroborated by at least two or more people and proved by photographic evidence and notorised by courts in at least a minimum of three countries and the United Nations.:smuggrin:

I mean, not a furry, but I kinda get it. Would definitely **** an anthropomorphic cat if I had a holodeck.
