Fat Princess is a downloadable program for the PlayStation Network made by Titan Studios and sold by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is primarily a zero to thirty-two multiplayer game with the basic goal of rescuing the Princess and bringing her back to the team's base.

The players collect and carry cakes to feed the enemy's princess which makes her heavier and therefore harder for the enemy to carry back to their own castle.

The game contains six character classes, each of which helps to make the team's task of capturing the princess much harder.:

Gameplay: In Fat Princess, the player joins one of two opposing groups consisting of up to 16 cartoon characters each, with the goal of rescuing their team's princess from the other team's outhouse. In order to make their opponents' task more difficult, players can feed the captive princess more and more cake slices so that she will become heavier and harder to carry back to her respective castle.

Players can change their character classes and abilities on the fly by picking up hats that are generated at their team's castle. Hats can also be found on the warzone where enemies have fallen. The game's six classes include the villager, mage, warrior, and worker. On their blog, Titan Studios has teased three additional classes: pirate, guitarist, and the king. Each class has its own unique set of abilities and skills. Each class can be upgraded by having the worker class collect resources from the map and then upgrading the hat producing machines by using a prefixed amount of resources. Upgrades provide alternative weapons or attacks to each class.

On each map there are several trees and ore nodes which worker classes can use to obtain resources.

Other interactive objects are bombs produced by an upgraded worker hut and a magic potion which turns players into chickens when thrown.

There are also torches that most classes can use to ignite their weapons to do additional damage, this was originally thought to only be the case with the ranger, but it is also available for use by other classes.

Same here.... the game looks okay at best and I don't see a whole lot of staying power with the players. I might pick it up if it goes down to $10

I could play it for days, but if no one else is getting it, then I shouldn't its more fun to play with ur friends...

Fat Princess hit the PSN late last week and, as most online games seemingly come across, has had some connectivity issues. Titan Studios announced over the weekend that a patch would be forthcoming, and now it seems the patch has been completed and is in the process of being tested. The patch will fix:

Failed Game Connections
Lag
Hosting Problems
AoE Scoring Exploits
Stalemates
Missing Princess (on certain levels)
Dead Hat Machines
Scoreboard Issues (only top 1000 scores shown)
Ranking System Problems

Still no ETA for the patch, but Titan Studios assures it will be available soon. They are also looking into further enhancements based on player suggestions, such as the inclusion of server lists, stalemate breakers, more classes, more maps etc.

Sony America Patch Live

Recently, in their Dev Blog, Titan Studios (developers for Fat Princes) announced that their Sony America patch, fixing the frequent lag and server issues, is now live and avialable for download. This patch is available for North America now, with Europe getting the patch next week. The new patch promises to boost connection rates and reduce the amount of lag experienced. Also included in the patch is a number of tweaks to the gameplay and ranking points system, which is outlined below.

What’s more important to notice is that Titan Studios also addressed future patches for the game, meaning they will continue to support their title, which is always a good thing for gamers.

So if you have already bought the game, go ahead and fire it up to download the patch. For those of you who don’t have the game yet, there is no long any reason not to!

Patch Details:

* The server selection heuristic has been modified so that ping time has been more heavily weighted when selecting potential matches. This will result in players being connected to games in such a way that game population and ping are more evenly weighted.
* Newly hosted servers will be more attractive to potential clients and thus fill up more quickly. The change will also better distribute connection attempts among servers and thus reduce failed attempts.
* Potential servers will be given less time to respond to ping requests. This should speed up that portion of the connection process.
* Selected servers will be given more time to establish a connection, resulting in fewer failed attempts.
* The connection code is less sensitive to packets coming back out of order. This was a cause of failed connections.
* Ice Mage and Dark Priest AoE scoring has been adjusted from 10 points to 2 points per enemy affected.
* Non-worker resource return has been reduced from 20 points to 10 points.
* Feeding the princess has been reduced from 20 points to 15 points.
* Castle door hit points have been reduced slightly from 30 to 25.
* The Princess’ calorie burn has been increased at weight stage 2, 3, and 4. Calorie burn was previously 2 per second at all stages. Stage 2 is now 4 per second, stage 3 is 8 per second, and stage 4 is 12 per second.

Fat Princess PS3: Fat Fan Fare with Patch 1.05

OK, we know it’s officially Spring in most of the world, but we really just couldn’t resist bringing a winter wonderland to Fat Princess PS3.

Today, March 25, we’ll be releasing Patch 1.05 which now includes *two* new FREE snow-themed maps called Frost Bite and Candy Mountain.

We know many people have wanted new maps, and we’re diligently trying to keep the community alive and together with these free maps. And for those of you who have heard about Fat Princess and – gasp! – have not yet played it, now is your chance to grab the game and you’ll get all of the original maps plus four additional maps for free!

We’ve also fixed a few issues recently brought to our attention:

1) Warrior: Fixed to disallow shield activation when carrying objects, as well as attenuating damage against lava and drowning.

2) Ice Mage: Changed level 1 area attack to slow enemies, not freeze them.

3) Soccer map: Disabled online score saving for this level (sorry, all, but it was too easy to gain rank).

Last but certainly not least, we’re happy to announce that our beloved princess has a hot new suitor: Atomic Operations, a new developer based in Seattle, Washington. We have lots of exciting things underway, and all I can really say is “Yo ho ho and a slice of cake!” (nudge nudge wink wink) ;-)

Stay tuned, see you all on the battlefield, and as always…

Cake for everyone,

The Fat Princess Team

this game was really fun, just bogged down by lag. the free maps will get me to play it again tho, see if its any better this time around.

anyone else have this game? its much easier to play with a team.

New Fat Princess content coming soon, ninjas and pirates included

Fans of Fat Princess will soon get some new content, including four-player co-op. This content will come from the free patch 1.06.In addition, the “Fat Roles” DLC will soon be released, bringing three new classes to the game.

The four-player co-op is local, meaning three friends can jump in and join your session, and they will play on your team. This translates into the story mode and online. The co-op will not be split screen so you’ll have to stay near one another. Again, this content will be added for free through an upcoming patch.

The Fat Roles DLC will cost you some money. It includes new characters the pirate, ninja, and giant. Of course, these characters all come with their own unique abilities. For instance, the ninja can turn invisible and use ninja stars, while the giant can eat enemies and slam its hands on the ground.

No release date has been revealed, but we are checking in with Sony to see if they can give us further details.
