Final Fantasy XIV wireless router!

ff-router-01-top.jpg

Our first impulse when we spotted this abstractly formed Final Fantasy XIV-branded 802.11n router on the TGS show floor was that Planex Communications was some sort of rogue IP-infringing KIRFufacturer. It turns out that's not the case. Planex Communications is a totally upstanding manufacturer of all things networking and Japanese-video-games-branded, and the fact that this ¥9,980 (about $116 US) router was located a few feet from Square Enix's own booth should quell any other misgivings. Now, as for misgivings about dedicating the majority of your life over the next couple years to another treadmill of XP, loot, and Moogles, those are in your hands.

Square Apologizes to Gamers for FFXIV

Square Enix have at last admitted that Final Fantasy XIV is a broken game. So much so that anyone who brought the game before the 25th of October will have 60 days free trial instead of 30.

To anyone who has tried to play Final Fantasy XIV the fact that the game is broken is not a surprise but Square Enix admitting it, was unexpected, but very much welcome.

"We would like to assure playFinal Fantasy XIVers that the world of FINAL FANTASY XIV is constantly growing and evolving, and the voices of the community are essential to that process. The development and management teams are carefully considering all player feedback, and working diligently to implement whatever changes and additions will serve to make Eorzea a better home for adventurers. We humbly ask for your continued support to this end."

Final Fantasy XIV Gets Delayed On PS3

Final Fantasy XIV has been largely derided since its launch on the PC two months ago and consequently, the team at Square Enix has been hard at work trying to address the multitude of issues currently plaguing the game, leading to the PS3 version being delayed.

Square Enix President and CEO, Yoichi Wada directly confronted the problems with Final Fantasy XIV, acknowledging that there's still a lot of work to be done before the game achieves "the level of enjoyability that Final Fantasy fans have come to expect..."

On the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone Blog, Wada writes, "While more than two months have passed since the official launch of Final Fantasy XIV service, we deeply regret that the game has yet to achieve the level of enjoyability that Final Fantasy fans have come to expect from the franchise, and for this we offer our sincerest of apologies," reads the post from Wada.

"After thorough deliberation on how to meet those expectations, it was decided that the most viable step was to approach improvements under new leadership and with a restructured team."

Naoki Yoshida will take over as producer and director on the game, in an effort "to realise this vision, and in doing so, provide our customers with a better game experience," Wada continues.

This new team will be outlining a new plan for Final Fantasy XIV then, which means that the PC trial will be extended until this plan is settled and this also means that the PlayStation 3 release of the game will now be delayed beyond the projected March 2011 date.

Wada concludes the post, writing, "the Final Fantasy XIV team is working hard to bring our customers an unparalleled adventure, and we ask for your continued understanding and support as we march ever diligently towards that goal."

A new release date for the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV has yet to be confirmed.
