Do you guys power these seperately via either another reciever or do you got an amp as well? I just plug mine in directly to my receiver although I know an amp would be ideal to have with my 605

In my theater in my garage i have a sub and amp thats meant to be in a car. I have 2 12" AudioBahn Subs powered by a 1500w AudioBahn amp. My buddy made this device where i can plug in a car amp to a house outlet. All i know is my theater has BASS from here to Japan lol. In my living room i have a simple 12" Pioneer sub 200w i think

Ok how exactly do you do this because I have 2 12 JL's that I wanna hook up but was wondering how exactly to put an AMP from a car into the equation because it has to have a ground, 12v, and the control/main power wire. If you could direct me to a how-to site that would be tight!

I may be wrong but ... you could buy another car bat that your amp gets its power from ... then ground it to some piece of metal or something nearby where you place the amp and speakers .... then your speaker wires go to the amp, you just then need something where the speakers also go to the receiver.

Ahh I see but would that kill the battery?

My friend made it. He's an electric speacialist. I dont know if you can buy them. Ill ask him. Thats why i have these subs as they will outperform almost any house sub out there!!!

Are you talking about car audio or home audio? Thread seems to talk about home audio (hence the Onkyo 605).

Anyways, I have an Onkyo 805 and my Polk Audio sub is powered subwoofer (meaning it has a built in amp and you connect it from your receiver via the sub pre-out(s)). Powered subs are by far the most common.

It started that way then someone said they used car subs for subs in their house... lol

hey Wreck...you should think twice about plugging your sub into your 605...you may be hindering your bass sound due to amperage shortage in that plugin...I believe the 605 power-in is limited to 100w, and any sub bigger than a 6" will definately draw more than that...you may want to directly plug your powered sub into the power strip/conditioner that your s/u is using...

Hmm I might have to make some adjustments at home!

If you still have the 605 manual, it actually tells you what the maximum wattage is for that plugin..if I remember correctly its 100w...and if you are plugging a sub into it, it will be drawing power away from your speakers and making your sound a little bit muddled..

I personally think Onkyo made a big mistake by putting that plugin on the unit..or, they should have stated that it was solely for a CD player. It definitely wasn't made for a powered subwoofer..

I may need to start reading the "Manual" lol
