Or else it would be,

Major fail that they couldn't get one of the most recognized quotes from a movie correct.

Actually, when Forrest says the quote, he goes "Momma always said 'Life was like a box a chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get'"

While the statement is correct because he was saying what his mother told him to someone else. Her line with the quote was "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get". So the line is said twice in the film each time with different tenses due to the nature in which they are being told.

Forrest's line has a bit of a mix-up at the end with tenses but you can chalk that under genious scripting because of Forrests' handicap and he might not get the grammar right

Yes and sadly many offloaded it on eBay and made huge losses. So no to.expensive boxsets for me.
