Hmmm, It’s times like this they really need to show the art upfront straight away at the pre order stage

Hmv have both. Just order both in a single order and return or move on the spare. Not ideal though, agreed. We haven't had one of these lazy disney style tbc mockups in ages lol

Oh I didn’t realise HMV had both. I just see the exclusive and assumed that’s all they had. Maybe the art cards and the poster are the exclusive part. But yeah when this kind of thing happens I think they need to show the artworks pretty sharply upfront. Of course not the worst thing in the world, just makes things easier. But yeah could just order both and see what happens

I mean the movie literally just came out lol.
So what? It's nothing to do with that.
The film has a ton of blanket marketing. Designs everywhere.
Its not like they can't come up with the design now. Use some promotional materials.
Happening way too often.

Yes, pre order then cancel. Obviously. But it's still a dirty fomo trick.

Terminator had about a three month wait for the design. Same with Nightmare on Elm St. Still waiting for Amadeus and Constantine art...Seven had it's art tbc then it was cancelled and changed. We never got to see the original finished Interstellar art before it was changed for some floppy cardboard wiff waff. Inception Ultimate Edition is still being sold as a pre order on HMV with no confirmation on art...if at all.
Blazing Saddles and North by North West had a wait for art, THEN they changed them both for objectively worse art.
Sixth Sense and Signs had tbc art for a short while. Then it was released and everyone laughed and immediately cancelled, especially for the SSense.

It's a sh*tshow for collectors really. Just list it for pre order when it's ready and have it for sale a month later. Way better turnaround that we can all organise our finances around a finished product that has a short pre order to buyers shelf cycle.

:D

Honestly this "no-art-and-black-cover" makes 0 sense. I get that the studios are all on their arse and soon the steelbooks will be available before the movie releases by the looks of it. But who is this appealing to?

You're pissing collectors off.

You're not attracting anyone new, that wouldn't usually buy a steelbook. In fact your directly putting them off with something this mundane. In a casuals eyes, they'll see this and pre order an amaray because why bother.

You make any SM account willing to post a picture of it look a bit daft.

Exhibit A

Your retailers don't even want to promote the picture of it... case in point below.

They'll probably end up with the poster art above anyway, so why not just mock it up as a placeholder, subject to change? Madness.

Imo the steel art should just be tied to poster art at the point of production/promotion. At least you look like you have a plan and avoid making yourselves look like incompetent, money grabbing fools. You can always change the art down the line. Rant over.

P.s. I'm sure I'll see the movie and it'll be great and I'll panic pre order both steels, but that's besides the point.:shipped:

So you are saying you are not Entertained?

Just on my way to see this at my local IMAX

Will decide afterwards if it warrants £35!!! on a base steel (showing my age but I remember ordering the Kimchi premium for Thor Dark World and it being just £36... sigh)

Not sold by the trailers, so definitely going to need to watch it before I even consider splashing out on a steelbook, even if the artwork does end up being decent.
Same. I'm also weary of anything that simply adds a "2" at the end of it, and calls it a day. So ******* lazy. Even twisters had the smarts to just add the "s" lol

Right, maybe don't put up a preorder same day, as theatrical release?!
Do it when the artwork is ready and confirmed.
I don't like the TBC crap either.

So Gladiators then? :naughty:
