Please excuse me if this is in the wrong forum or has been done before (I've done a quick search but can't find anything else).

Just thought it would be a cool idea to put a master list together of every steelbook ever released and whether it has a Glossy or Matte (or metallic) finish. Obviously not an easy task but with a lot of members on here with big collections we could have a nice list in no time.

Hey Simon, we're working on a feature for the collection manager that will allow for the ability to search on any steelbook "feature".

So that means that you'd be able to tell if any of the steels are G1 or Glossy or Embossed, etc.

I don't think we'll be tracking everything, but there's always the opportunity for us to add a new feature to the list and look for that.

That's a manual process that takes a lot of research, so it might be a while before we are done with it - since there are about 800 steels / metal collectibles in the database.

So looking ahead...that's something you can expect from there. :)

I'll move this thread a little later, but wanted to respond inline so you can see it.

How many different levels of finish are there? Some matte steelbooks feel different to me over others, like the quality of paint isn't as high. Also what about steelbooks such as sherlock holmes 2 which as got sort of a metallic look about it. I'd quite like to know about the differences in the manufacturing process, some finishes must be more expensive than others.

I think the region coding on movies in the collection manager needs to be worked on, a lot are not correct.

Actually they are correct to an extent. Meaning if no one has confirmed it region free then its listed as its home Country so at the very least it is not wrong.

In the support section people can report things they have tested so we can go back in and edit stuff if they are region free etc.

to the person above, there are many different finishes and costs differ correct. Most expensive steelbook ever made was Crysis 2 Nano Edition. Get it in your hand an you'll know why. :)
