I wouldnt be surprised if only half or less was actually sold today. The price they have set as well as needing to get foot traffic into their store it would make sense they would be selling these at a loss all the way through Christmas. Heck even CA2 is back in stock and it was sold out. Happy with my copy. Saw a person walking around with 6 in his hand. I think I know who it was too. I was going to get 2 but there was another person right behind me and I decided to let him have it.

A price tactic to generate foot traffic only works for an in store purchase. BB had these for sale on their ecommerce platform so this was priced to move not to generate foot traffic imo. Compare this to the Wal Mart slips which were priced at $21.96 and only came with a 2D disc. This was a great deal considering they were also giving people loyalty points (RZ) for their purchases. And I doubt it was sold at a loss. This is not old stock so they weren't discounting anything. The two stores I went to today were completely sold out. I know that is just a fraction of a percentage compared to the nation but from the sounds of other people's posts, this thing is probably sold out. This is all conjecture by me so we'll see what truly happens over the next few days.

Managed to snag one a few moments after the 10AM store opening. Lost of folks standing around the display and not many left when I picked mine up. Heard a lady say "These were the steel ones and they don't stay around long" lol.

This is a huge seller. Even the Wal Mart slips are either gone by now or going fast. I don't doubt the BB Steelbook is sold out because of the price, the fact that they were giving 100 RZ points with a pre-order and the release time being only a few weeks away from Christmas. Any exclusive for this movie is going to move.

What to open is the question, the steelbook or one of the slips. I'm leaning towards the steel

It's good for the hobby, I think. Selling fast means other products in the future hopefully. And I know a friend of mine was into movies before but never collected steels until BB started with the Marvel Phase 2 movies. So we get new collectors sharing our hobby too. The more the merrier (until they discover BF, Kimchi, Nova and compete for preorders! LOL)

That said, I missed out on the in-store pickup option and couldn't get out of work today to go to the store, so I took my chances ordering online. We'll see what happens!

If they didnt save enough copies for foot traffic to their stores, then that is just one more nail in Best Buys coffin as a horribly run company. I would be shocked if they don't restock. They knew exactly how popular this title would be. There is a very good reason why this film was released on blu-ray 2 weeks before Christmas.

I'm bummed out I lost out on this one. I completely did not expect them to sell out within minutes. I've never heard of that happening for other BB steels. I thought coming in during my lunch break at noon would've given me plenty of time.

Welp, I tried multiple stores here in Georgia.... All sold out. I know it benefits the GBs, but it's a bit frustrating to hear about people buying 3-5 copies each. Anyway, if anyone has an extra copy they need to sell, let me know!

Can anyone who owns both this and the WWA version tell me if the finishes and quality of the steels are the same? I know they are both spot gloss and debossed but not sure if they are of the same quality

Sold out in store at 10:10 am...

I got there and about 10 people were standing at the door waiting for the store to open. All the people were there for this, sold out within the first 10 minutes of the store being open.

Well I guess being new to the steelbook game (but a long time collector) I should have known better. Going forward I will always pre-order 2 copies (1 to open and 1 to admire) and try my luck in person to grab another good copy in case one of the two pre-orders has issues. Of course this only works with stores that are local to me like BB, Walmart and Target. I'm out of luck on international orders like Zavvi or Amazon cause it's a pain to return anything.

Didn't the same thing happen when Thor 2 came out? And before that, Zero Dark Thirty? It's not unheard of.
