If it works then HMV could turn into a pure online store like Zavvi.
It'd obviously be a shame to lose their stores, but anything is better than nothing. Plus, at least Zavvi would still have some competition!

I hope this does happen. Even if they were online only it would be better than them going bang.
Exactly mate. And at least some folks would still have a job too.

So what’s the latest on this?
Nothing has been announced
KPMG have said they have received interest from potential buyers but will not provide details

KPMG has confirmed though there has been no approach from online discount club BuyVia.

So that was just speculation in the press as they had not submitted an actual offer to purchase hmv

KPMG have said Club BuyVia have not contacted them as of yet

I would advise if you had any of the HMV exclusive steelbooks on pre order with HMV to 're order these from Zavvi/Zoom etc as soon as these are announced with these retailers if it's a release you don't want to miss out on

If HMV are not taken out of administration it's unlikely distributors will provide hmv with new release stock.

Amazon
Fnac
Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley
It's been rumored are some of the bidders

http://www.musicweek.com/brands/read/hmv-update-number-of-firm-offers-received/075000

Amazon would be the biggest in terms of financial strength
Amazon music/video stores on high streets ?????

Amazon do have book high street stores in USA and owns grocers Whole Foods so they would be used to high street business setup

Any bid that is accepted would agree to taking over all of HMV debts so it depends on how big that is if they manage to agree a sale

He'd be better off concentrating on what he already has and invest in Rafa with a substantial transfer kitty!!! :p
 He wants rid of newcastle that's why he has the club up for sale he won't invest any major funds in the club not a chance of that happening

Ashley is more interested in retail business than football clubs now which is why he has been very busy in purchasing or part investing in retail business that are in trouble or gone into administration.

Investing in newcastle that will be up to whoever the new owners end up been
I can see rafa leaving at the end of this season if new owner not sorted by then

He still lives in liverpool as does the rest of his family he never wanted to leave liverpool club but that decision was out of his hands
He said he and his family love liverpool city and is why they remain living there.

Yeah, I have a lot of love for Rafa. I feel sorry for him because any club he's been at he's never been backed by the owners. First Gillette and Hicks and then Ashley.

He's a classy manager and very underrated IMO. Surprised no other big clubs ever went in for him.

Not just any manager could win a Champions League by coming from 3-0 down at half time!

(Thought I'd just put that out there @Naughtius Maximus !!! :p:D )

HMV have been saved, bought by Canada's Sunrise Records.
100 stores saved but 27 closing with immediate effect.

WOW that is really surprising. I wish he had saved HMV in Canada. I know Sunrise moved into some of the stores left vacant by HMV here in Canada but unfortunately not in the vacant store in my city. My concern here is that if this doesn't work out what effect it might have down the road for Sunrise in Canada. Both chains could go out of business. I wonder if this will have any effect on exclusive steelbooks at Sunrise Canada.
