Still not able to see the Group Buy Area. Looks like I won't be able to participate :(
Maybe next time

Don't give up so easily ;)

If you go to the main page of the forum, just scroll down into the Trades, Sales, Deals, ..... area and see if you can see the forum link for "Steelbook Group Buys".

If you can't I would ask a mod about it

Cheers and good luck

Hey quick question, when do they normally send the invoices, is it right away or do they wait for the item to release? So on the 10th when I post and let's say I get it, will they send the invoice on the 10th for me to pay right away? Or is it like preordering where you pay when it's ready to ship?

Usual rule of thumb if you've JUST hit 20/30 posts is to wait 6+ hours for the system to kick in. Just keep checking, i'm sure you'll be fine... if all else fails PM one of the Mods.

I sent this to the usual ninjas on my list... thought it might help you:

If you've been living in a dark black hole and haven't heard.... How to Train a Dragon Group Buy on HDN is due to go live at 8AM EST USA tomorrow!! (10th May)

Check your local time here - just use the drop down box and select your country:

http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_US-NY.aspx?y=2014&mo=5&d=9&h=8&mn=0

You have two options:

1) 1/4 slip version (150 copies) w/1/4 slip, numbered card $55 shipped to hub.
2) Full slip (350 total copies)w/full slip, lenticular, character cards and numbered card $60 shipped to hub

To ensure you get a copy (For each group buy, 2 per member, max) just follow this:

  1. Check the main forum thread for updates
  2. Once you have the link to the Group Buy, reply to the group buy thread with how many copies you want
  3. Duplicate requests will be deleted
  4. You cannot sign up for both Slip versions in a single GB thread, you have to sign up via both threads.
  5. Once things have settled/GBs ended invoices will be PM'd to you all, which will include shipping to your local country HUB.
Whats a HUB?

To save money on shipping/custom fees all copies will be sent to a single Ninja based in UK/EU/Asia/NA who are the acting 'hubs' - they absorb any custom fees.

Once the copies arrive at your HUBs home, the HUB will then invoice you again for shipping locally and split any possible customs costs between everyone.

Main discussion thread HERE

Word to the wise – once you sign up to the Group Buy you CANNOT pull out, so THINK before committing.

I'll be sending a reminder PM tomorrow about 10 min before it goes live so you don't feck this up! :p

Hope this PM helps...

Cheers

Hopefully Alex will confirm when he plans on invoicing so we all know when to save our pennies ;)

Pretty sure that its actually 30/30 to view both sections. As I just hit that recently. A mod should clarify and check into that. I couldn't view both sections until a few minutes after my 30+ posts, then the trade forums opened up and then the group buy section a few minutes after.

And I think for those who hit the 10/day posting limit, I think it goes by time. So if I posted 1 post at 6 PM and 9 at 7 PM, I can post 1 at 6PM the next day but will have to wait until 7PM to post the rest. At least that was how I thought it went.

I gotta set like 5 alarms so I don't miss out. I think I'm going for the full since its only $5 more. Anyone going to double dip and get the possible Zavvi one too?

...it was changed recently. Taken from 13 days ago:

Group Buy board has been bumped down to 20 posts to gain entry (other trade sections for different merchandise should remain 30)

In Wreck we trust ;)

Is there a specific reason the GB' s can't be staggered? I'm not sure the exact demand this will have, but at two copies per member and the two GB's commencing at the same time it could get ugly. I would be very grateful if a mod could take the purchase limit, or the parallel times into consideration. If it is a logistical issue, I completely understand and will do my best to secure a copy. Either way I appreciate the opportunity as always ;)

I would try my best to get this as this will look nice in my collection very happy and looking forward to this beauty...

Thanks for the info awesome, so wait I have one more question.

The Full slip w/lenticular, character cards and numbered card, is that different from the full slip with Chinese title?

Cause I want the lenticular slip one, not the other one, or are they one and the same? I don't get it, so when I post in the group buy what would I post, like
"I would like option 2 with the lenticular slip cover"

I just want to make sure not to mess this up lol

I don't get it, so when I post in the group buy what would I post, like
"I would like option 2 with the lenticular slip cover"

When the group buy goes live, there's going to be two different threads in the steelbook group buy section of the forums. One will be for the 1/4 slip which has the Chinese title - this is not the one you want so you'll completely ignore that thread.

The other thread will be for the full slip lenticular and includes the character cards. That's the thread you will post in. You'll say how many copies you want and what country you're in. So something to the effect of, "One to the USA, thanks!" will suffice.

what exactly does ship to hub mean?

HDN has members all over the world that act as hubs. For instance, I am in Canada and the steels that I get from this GB, as well as any others in Canada, will be shipped to a single member in Canada and then that member redistributes them to the individuals who ordered.

It is done to reduce shipping costs and the work that would be involved in have a single member deal with the entire GB, although are those that do do that.

Cheers

what exactly does ship to hub mean?

In addition to what crash said, the price listed is how much it costs for the bulk shipment of steels to each hub. There will be an additional fee for what it costs for the hub to ship your steel(s).

So, basically:

HDZeta --> Regional Hub = $55 for the 1/4 slip, $60 for the lenti. You'll be invoiced for this first.

Regional Hub --> you = A second invoice for your individual package's shipping costs. You'll be invoiced for this once the hub receives the steelbooks. This shipping cost hasn't been priced out/mentioned yet.

You'll also be responsible for PayPal fees, so bear that in mind as well.

I agree. I think a staggered time is a much better method. Imagine if you want both and are torn with which one to go for first. Not really understanding the reason to put them both live at the same time. Hey even a 15 minute window will help. :dunno:

First of all, let me start by saying I'm a HUGE fan of this movie. It's my most favorite animated movie and I have been deadly waiting for a quality steel, and i was pretty excited to know HDZeta announced this title. But honesty, the art work kills it all, the front and back of the steel look too crowed with both Hiccup and Toothless front and back. And the lenticular slip is totally unrelated to the movie, I mean hiccup is the main character but where is Toothless? And the picture of Hiccup's half head doesn't make sense to me, especially what does it have to do with the lenticular effect? I would rather have the Lenti art work on the back of the steel and the back art be the Lenti. Then, I would buy it in a sec without thinking.
Secondly, the price is $60 + regional shipping cost = around $70 for just one steelbook with no embossing, boring Lenti and not that impressive of the extra. Even for Thor and Frozen Kimchi, it was only around or under $60.
$60 or $70 may not be much for a lot of collectors including me, as I said, I'd even spend $100 on this steel ONLY if it's worth it. But in this case, guys, the maximum I will pay or this is $50 total.
So I'll pass on this, and waiting for the UK version, it will not have all the extras but at least, the price is more reasonable and maybe we'll get a better art work!
Just my opinion, for all folks who love this version, good luck to y'all on the GB tomorrow! :)
