Eugh. If the slip had been soft touch with spot gloss, and the steel was spot gloss, too, like the previous release, I probably would've kept my order, but, nah. Cancelled.
Yep, me too. It's all very cheap and run by numbers imo. I was half hoping they'd deboss and gloss the steel. That would've changed my mind tbh.Yep. Everything about this release shouts uninspired. I was hoping that we'd get some extra polish on the old steel design at the very least.
Unboxing of German edition (should be identical). Not mine:
No idea what everyone's problem is here. It's perfect for people who don't have this film on 4K yet (like me). This edition looks also way better than the hidious Oppenheimer slipcase from Universal that everyone drooled all over with that ridiculous photoshopped front cover.
I know, but the Oppenheimer slipcase is a particular level of amateurish and cheap in it's whole look imo. You can do beautiful work with photoshop, or you can do something like the Oppenheimer slipcase. If you're one of the few dominating film studios in the world I kinda expect you to make something that looks like an actual professional designed it. But it's all a matter of personal taste I guess.Dude, every steel design and film marketing art is photoshopped.
But I get your point it's not overly egregious.
I think a lot of us just wanted some spot gloss and maybe a bit of debossing to jazz it up a bit. I don't have a 4k Steelbook and after some back and forth, I think I'm sticking with it: but yeah, I'm a little disappointed.
We were expecting something new and instead we got an old steelbook design reused. Sure the slipcase is nice but if I want something nice there's a few options for this film already, Oppenheimer just came out and had a decent enough design from the start. No idea what everyone's problem is here. I get your point and why you're disappointed. I probably would be too if I already owned this one on 4K. At this point I'm just glad they didn't go down the same route they did with Interstellar with that half-assed book-like thing where the discs already arrive scratched and the patches are glued to the back with tape because they didn't think about designing the slipcase to fit those as well.
