Eugh. If the slip had been soft touch with spot gloss, and the steel was spot gloss, too, like the previous release, I probably would've kept my order, but, nah. Cancelled.

Yep. Everything about this release shouts uninspired. I was hoping that we'd get some extra polish on the old steel design at the very least.

Yep, me too. It's all very cheap and run by numbers imo. I was half hoping they'd deboss and gloss the steel. That would've changed my mind tbh.

Think the slip actually looks OK but can't stand the steelbook. Weirdly enough the thing that annoys me most about it isn't the finish or art, it's the big LEONARDO DICAPRIO all across the top of it.

No idea what everyone's problem is here. It's perfect for people who don't have this film on 4K yet (like me). This edition looks also way better than the hidious Oppenheimer slipcase from Universal that everyone drooled all over with that ridiculous photoshopped front cover.

Dude, every steel design and marketing film art is photoshopped to the butt hole and back.
But I get your point it's not overly egregious.

I think a lot of us just wanted some spot gloss and maybe a bit of debossing to jazz it up a bit. I don't have a 4k Steelbook and after some back and forth, I think I'm sticking with it: but yeah, I'm a little disappointed.

I know, but the Oppenheimer slipcase is a particular level of amateurish and cheap in it's whole look imo. You can do beautiful work with photoshop, or you can do something like the Oppenheimer slipcase. If you're one of the few dominating film studios in the world I kinda expect you to make something that looks like an actual professional designed it. But it's all a matter of personal taste I guess.

I get your point and why you're disappointed. I probably would be too if I already owned this one on 4K. At this point I'm just glad they didn't go down the same route they did with Interstellar with that half-assed book-like thing where the discs already arrive scratched and the patches are glued to the back with tape because they didn't think about designing the slipcase to fit those as well.

We were expecting something new and instead we got an old steelbook design reused. Sure the slipcase is nice but if I want something nice there's a few options for this film already, Oppenheimer just came out and had a decent enough design from the start.

I think we're all glad that the Interstellar cardboard wallet menu nonsense wasn't replicated. Hopefully never again for any film.

I like the set! Yeah, the steelbook is repeated, and I have it as well already, but the Fullslip is nice and glossy, with great art on the back, the envelope is very good looking and glossy, the poster cards are good and glossy, and I love the narrow character poster cards, just wish there were more, than 4.

with that half-assed book-like thing where the discs already arrive scratched

Blu-rays and UHDs don't scratch, cardboard pockets or sleeves are fine for packaging.

I'm keeping this order open. Pulled out the 4K steel I have for Inception last night and decided I didn't like it very much :shipped: at least with this one I'll have a nice slip.
