Shout out to a great comparison here.
Clearly Arrow have done loads of work on this 4K compared to the older Universal release. It's easy to see from the comparisons. Definitely glad I picked this up.

Wow ok, I actually didn't know that... I assumed it was the exact same transfer, and I'm honestly not a huge fan of the box art, so quickly lost interest in this release. However, it's now back on my radar! Like the guy in the video said... very strange Arrow didn't use that info as a selling point.

I wasn’t aware of this either (me, you, HH & JBT spoke about this in the GC too). And tbh I didn’t realise the original Universal 4K scan was universally panned!. I was proper impressed with it and loved how rich the colours and details looked.
Maybe because I had seen it so many times on Blu Ray that the smallest improvement on 4K impressed my simple mind and eyes. Still haven’t got around to this transfer yet but I’m even more excited for it. Hopefully I’ll whack it on this week

Only just realised the beer mat has both the hand signs for 3! That’s cool

A lot of the comments on that comparison video argue that their Universal copies are nothing like that so I’m curious as to what copy he’s using. I might do some comparing over the weekend and see if I notice the differences.

Can't say I realised it was panned either, and also thought it looked great when I last saw the Universal version... it's not until you see them side-by-side that you realise how much better Arrow's looks, otherwise I probably never would've noticed lol. Same goes for The Matrix, which was also recently discussed on here... I know the blu-ray was notoriously panned for them overdoing it with the green tint, but it honestly never really bothered me. However, after seeing these comparisons recently, I now think it looks terrible when compared to the 4K.

Ah ok, this makes sense then. I had zero problems with it before. He made me think I was going crazy

I’m so funny with the matrix because it’s the one film I kept all the editions for including VHS. I always liked the Blu Ray. And I’m happy with the 4K too. But DVD was always my preferred picture. However the Blu Ray and 4K show more detail so it’s swings and roundabouts with that for me. Can watch it so many ways with different hues or details lol

Man the FOMO really got a hold on me on this one, but I'm glad I pulled the trigger. Didn't really like the cover at first, but it has grown on me a lot, I'm still not the biggest fan of the Brad Pitt silhouette on the spine, but that's really the only gripe I have with the packaging. Plus I don't have this on 4K yet, heard this transfer was better than the previous one and it's in my Top 3 Tarantino films. I seemingly got one of the last copy from my trusted movie supplier too and got it for the standard price when it was already up for double that on ebay. Can't wait to give this a rewatch this week!

its still a cool edition and worthy to have, but apparently the video about how its supposedly an improvement over the initial 4k is absolute BS (from reading the comments)

I missed out on this, almist pulled the trigger but didn't and now regret it, but if anyone has a sealed one for sale i would be interested, thanks.

Yep. Reading the comments, the consensus from the community messages is that the reviewer has either screwed up the signal to the capture card for the Universal disc or thats he's intentionally deceiving his audience. That would seem madness after cultivating a large subscriber number, so he must have janked up the cables along the way or his settings off somewhere between capturing and editing.

I haven't watched the Universal disc for years after moving on that slipcase and steelbook. I couldn't tell you if he's right, wrong or just embarrassingly doubled down on a mistake.

On sale on arrow store just now for £25, showing sold out but a lot of titles in the new arrow sale were OOS ealier today and went back up like demolition man, great escape, good, bad and the weird and this in all 4k editions, worth checking out if you missed any of these.
