From Hollywood Reporter:

Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg to Adapt Robert Kirkman Comic 'Invincible' for Universal (Exclusive)

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are teaming up with Robert Kirkman to bring The Walking Dead creator’s comic book Invincible to the big screen for Universal Pictures.

Rogen and Goldberg will write, direct and produce the adaptation of the comic, which has been continually published since 2003.

Kirkman will also produce, via his shingle Skybound Entertainment and his Skybound cohorts David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst. The project falls under Skybound’s first-look deal with Universal. James Weaver, a principal with Rogen and Goldberg at their banner Point Grey, also will produce.

Invincible is Kirkman’s second-longest running title after Walking Dead and follows Mark Grayson, a normal high school student with just one difference between him and his peers — his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, and he, too, will inherit his own set of superpowers.

The comic book, which Kirkman created with Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker, is now on its 133rd issue and explores Mark’s journey as he discovers what it means to be the son of the hero, named Omni-Man, and the reality behind his greatest responsibility: protecting planet Earth.

“For nearly a decade I've had to endure the ‘what about Invincible?’ question as fans have watched The Walking Dead grow into the multi-media monstrosity it has become over the years,” said Kirkman. “The answer was always that we were waiting for the right team to partner with. That team has arrived! The esteemed misters Goldberg and Rogen have proven themselves to be top-notch directors with a keen collective eye for stunning visuals after slumming it by writing hit after juggernaut hit.”

Kirkman continued: “Invincible's surprising, edgy, shocking, and oftentimes blood-soaked story couldn't be in more capable hands. With the team of Rogen, Goldberg and Universal, I'm very confident this will be another superhero movie, in a long line of superhero movies that continues to prove that it's a viable, thrilling genre that will keep people coming to the cinema for years to come.”

"No matter how much damage it causes our bodies, minds, and our most intimate relationships with those we love, we will not rest until Invincible is as great a movie as it deserves to be,” Rogen and Goldberg said jointly in a statement

Rogen and Goldberg made their debut as a directing team on 2013’s apocalyptic comedy This Is the End and followed that up with 2014’s The Interview. The comic book fans then adapted the Garth Ennis-Steve Dillon comic The Preacher, co-writing and directing the pilot and serving as exec producers on the AMC show, whose second season debuts in June.

The duo is now working on directing and exec producing the Hulu comedy series Future Man.

Kirkman is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion and Katz Golden. Rogen and Goldberg are repped by UTA and Felker Toczek.

To be honest @tridon, I don't know anything about this comic except that YOU love it. haha But I really want to check out it now.

I can only imagine how excited you must be.
If one day they announce a Battle Chasers film, I will understand how you felt today. :)

Since you know so much about it... Cast this thing! Who would you want to see in the role(s)?

Fan-casting is going to be the most fun part about this whole thing! It's going to take some hard thinking, though. ;)

"With Kirkman's success with The Walking Dead, maybe studios/producers will start looking at his other work" on July 25, 2012 by @tridon

You predicted this 5 YEARS ago?

I've never heard of this @tridon but it sounds interesting and although I go on and off of the waking dead (was a big big big fan for years but then it was just the same repeated crap which got good again toward the end of each season) but I have a friend who reads the comics and he's always telling me how good they are and at the end of most seasons would try to explain to me where they f*cked up on the show without trying to ruin anything they left out incase it was in the next season lol

But I love rogan and Goldberg so I'm very interested

Can I ask though, so does the boy eventually get superpowers? Or Is it a kind of he's getting ready all the time kind of thing for his dad to kick it? Sounds like it's quite dark like the kick ass comics/ graphic novels/ films

That reminds me, I gave up after episode 4 or 5 on the newest walking dead season and maybe I should finsh that soon

To me, Invincible has always been miles better than The Walking Dead. TWD -- the show and the comic -- tells a story that just keeps going in circles. On the road, find a place, fight a new human bad guy, good guys die, on the road, find a place, fight a... It just keep repeating over and over again. Invincible has relatable characters and a story that's always evolving.

It started with Mark Grayson when he was in high school and realizing that he has super powers. This ends up being because his father is a Viltrumite -- a powerful alien race that's going extinct. When Viltrumites hit puberty, their powers manifest. Being that he's half-alien, this happens to Mark. Mark dons the alias of Invincible and becomes a hero, meeting many new heroes along the way. Since the start, we've seen Mark graduate high school, go to college, meet the love of his life, marry her, and have a child. There's been a lot of death and loses along the way, though. It's a rather dark comic at times.

If Rogan and Goldberg nail what makes the book so special, the Invincible film will be an absolute blast. If you haven't read Invincible, I definitely recommend giving the first couple story arcs a shot.

To be honest, I still haven't seen Preacher nor have I ever read the book. I've heard nothing but good things, though.

It's on my list to try out and also heard good things, then when I found out it's those 2 it went further up the list.

Maybe soon then. Still not sure if I should return to the walking dead or not. Like you said with your cycle of events I just know it will be the same as before etc. Gets a bit monotonous each time
