Never seen this and I really like that front with those colours art but all I can seriously see is Mick Jagger. Didn’t even know Tim Robbins was in this

it's a real head**** of a film, which i say as a compliment/recommendation. it's very much in the psychological thriller / what the hell is going on? category, and there's a real sense of unease and dread much of the time. the new trailer above conveys this well. great direction and acting, too, one or Robbins' best performances.

it's been first on my list of favourite films without a steelbook for an age, so i'll be grabbing this! :woot:

Really lovely in hand, looking forward to the new documentary but it's frustrating the Imprint edition has so many more special features. Was hoping to sell it but I might have to keep it for the extras now.

happy days. :) this has long been way top of my list of films without steels. thought i'd add to @Punker76 pics above with my own, found under the Media tab and below. :Snap:

i wasn't sold on this new artwork originally, but on receipt (and for additional reasons below) it's really grown on me, notwithstanding the wasted rear. plus it has a very subtle spot gloss on the red areas that is great - in the right light and angle - and almost appears scratchy, which makese a sort of sense to me, considering how the film gets under your skin:

J-card and specs, for those with an interest:

the art theme is replicated inside:

but the nicest surprise for me is that the artwork is continued on the on-screen menus, a continuity you rarely see these days:

i am no PQ expert, but the 4k doesn't look like a massive increase on the blu-ray, not surprising considering how (deliberately) grainy the film has always been, to its benefit.

a good release worth picking up. and if you have not seen it, it's one of those rare true one-offs, i highly recommend.

JACOB'S LADDER.png

searching for this image, just found out there was a pointless remake in 2019 that died immediately, who knew?

ps - on both my discs, the 'On the Rungs of 'Jacob's Ladder'' making-of doc has a persistent image stutter, where the image sometimes jumps as if knocked. the films play fine, so i know this is not a disc error, so it could be the state of the archival material, or it could be a transfer issue. in case anyone else has also this.

edit: pps - forgot how good the soundtrack to this is, too, which is odd, considering i own the Waxword edition. also, this arrived on the same day as Arrow's Witness, and then i remembered they are both Maurice Jarre soundtracks.
