Would be great to get a embossed steelbook of this badboy :D, but ill settle for a limited edition of some sort.

I'm holding out hope that The Beard will be heavily involved in a BD release... I'm assuming he's forcing the studio to hold off on releasing it in the states till he does.

On the other hand, maybe he'll CGI the hell out of it like he did with ET. :(

I so hope this gets The Shark Is Still Working bundled with it. I will pay anything to get my hands on a limited edition of this. One of my favourite films of all time.

The Shark Is Still Working documentary was great :scat:, this blu ray has so much potential with extras and i really hope they do go all out with this release, i have the HD version of this saved on my Sky HD box and i never get bored of watching it.:D

Did you catch the documentary at a festival?

Aintitcoolnews has just posted a snippet from an interview with Steven Speilberg concerning the Jaws Blu Ray:

Quint: Is there a Jaws Blu-Ray in the works?

Steven Spielberg: Yes, there is. Yes, there is. I’ve already seen some of it. I don’t have a date yet, but there’s a Blu-Ray absolutely in the works.

Quint: I can’t wait, man. I love that the last DVD release actually had the original mono soundtrack on it as well. I wasn’t a fan of the remixed 5.1 sound… the splashing sounded canned…

Steven Spielberg: Oh, I know. I totally understand that. (In the future) there’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct. I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show.

If 1941 comes on Blu-Ray I’m not going to go back and take the wires out because the Blu-Ray will bring the wires out that are guiding the airplane down Hollywood Blvd. At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.

The rest of the interview can be found here

I love the fact that we are going to get the original without any digital alterations and just a nice cleaned up print of the film. Way to much stock is taken with digital enhancements these days.

Just a quick heads up concerning the Jaws Blu Ray release date. I have been snooping around this morning and came across this article on Ain't It Cool News:

Nordling here.

Thanks to Damon Houx for the news...

Remember Quint's awesome interview with Steven Spielberg earlier in the year? When I wasn't pulling my hair out with envy I was reading every bit of information I could about a high definition release for JAWS. Seems as if Spielberg's been working on it for some time. Well, according to sources, The Digital Bits has the skinny on when to expect the JAWS Blu-Ray - August 14th, 2012!

No word on any special features, but I really hope both the original laserdisc documentary, as well as THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING, would be on there in some form. I'll buy this one in a half-second, as I'm sure many of you will as well. Universal is also talking about releasing a box set of the Universal Monsters on Blu-Ray as well. Click on the Digital Bits link for more information.

And, hey, Mr. Spielberg, you know next year is the 30th anniversary of E.T. as well... just saying, I know an awful lot about that movie, if you wanted to talk about it... hint hint...

Nordling, out.

So there you go folks. Now this is not 100% confirmed but its the closest we have to an actual date. I cannot wait.
