UPdate release 5/2019 + UHD XL Fullslip more info soon
SteelBook visual change.

So to confirm when it means SteelBook visual change does that mean WEA is on the horizon as mentioned below which I’ve highlighted in Bold from a post a few years back? If so this is great news that this plan is still moving forward even though it’s a few years late with the previous release date being 2017 :D

I have been in conversation with Jan Cikanek, Business manager at Film Arena (who is a friend)

This is the current state of play regarding King Kong.

Early 2015 Film Arena received a batch of KK steelbooks which all had minor damage, for which the Fullslips had already been prepared.
Such are the exacting standards at FA that they felt they could not possibly sell these as FAC products, and are so selling them off separately as 'damaged'.

In March of 2015, Film Arena decided on scrapping the original project, and planning for a new edition.
What is planned is to combine the 'Director's cut' of the film (which has never been released in the Czech Republic) with Brand New WEA artwork for both the Steelbooks and Fullslip.
This, of course, means harmonizing the new batch production with the Director's cut, and the WEA artwork.
Rights issues and artwork approval are hoped to be solved during 2016, with release set for 2017.
Print run at present is planned at between 2,000 and 4,000.

I have no idea, but I'm watching. I sure hope it's a WEA after all this time.
Are those fullslips they had already produced going to be ok after all this time? Or is this project starting from scratch?

doubt it would be WEA. If it will be then expect the full FA treatment, Maniacs, E1 - E5B :spoil:

early days on release info (or, about time if you've been waiting a mere 4 years ), but does anyone know if this will contain the extended cut and all of the making-of extas, or just theatrical and basics?

although it's DVD, my 3 disc edition extended edition still seems to have the most added stuff.

So, changed from the classic WWA steelbook design with Kong in his natural jungle habitat and also in his unnatural urban jungle habitat:-

New design looks OK but maybe better with ext. artwork reversed . . . B&W int. art just daft - this steelbook is not after all for the evergreen 1933 classic.

Well after all of the criticism over Universal cutting the tail off of the T-Rex on the cover of the Fallen Kingdom steelbook I'm guessing Universal cutting the ass off of Kong here isn't going to go over any better.

I understand why they had to flip the inside art, but it looks off this way (because it IS off). Hope they change it, because so far I like the steelbook.

UNIVERSAL:
FIRST MAN, HALLOWEEN, SCHINDLER'S LIST, KING KONG, and other Universal SteelBooks

FIRST MAN and HALLOWEEN are the first to be on the list. As j-cards were delivered today, we would like to start the expedition of both usual j-card SteelBook titles next week, each with two mutations, one with UHD and the other without. The FAC editions are on hold because we are still waiting for materials from the studio. Schindler's List is in approval, FIRST MAN is still waiting for materials, just like HALLOWEEN and others behind him. At the same time, our distributor sets up individual processes to get the communication and approval process more efficient. Kindly expect to wait longer, but it pays to wait. In the order, there are also waiting SteelBooks PITCH BLACK and CASINO, which is being prepared for September.
