Images that are few MB (Megabyte) in file size can slow down a webpage from loading regardless if person has slow internet or fast but will get lot more noticable when person is using slower internet connection or PC/Laptop has slow CPU/Memory or free hard drive space available.

A website or thread page on that site that is been accessed by a lot by users same time can put an increase on a site server ability to handle packet requests by those users if that webpage has images in hi resolution and the image that was uploaded has a large file size.
Posting photos that has a few MB in size adds strain on a site server for a webpage to load if a lot loading that webpage same time.
You likely will notice this issue less often on a website when it does not have lot of users same time requesting that webpage to load.

This why most retailers for example use thumbnail images and not full size so not to have their website have loading issues when been accessed by millions or billions of users each day.
This also why Facebook will auto compress any images uploaded to their site so it does not cause their server to have issues in loading content they get billions of vists to their site each day.

It's simple images that are only in file size KB will have lot less strain on a site server to load images on a webpage but images that are in uploaded in MB size can cause issues especially if that website is getting lot of vists to that content same time.

I made few preorders on Zavvi some months ago "Last Night in Soho" and collector "Interstellar" but shipping status is very low to update

both was dispatched on 2nd December .... here the tracking , and no update since this date. So as Interstellar collector is a bit fragile, I'm afraid it will be damaged at delivery, and too bad because it's sold out.

2nd Dec 2024 16:31:29EXPECTED FROM Zavvi

So can you confirm please that shipping transit is very slow at the moment since a week or more ? Thanks for your help & advice.

Shouldn't the HDN website block the upload of files too large to host and that would cause difficulty?
I thought those parameters were built into the web design code?

(Granted, I'm not a web designer)

Zavvi international delivery address
It can take 3-8 days or more sometimes before tracking will list accepted at fedex processing center
When you see tracking mention accepted at fedex processing center only then you will notice more tracking updates after this

My Zavvi order of Terminator 4K SteelBook tracking on November 12 was expected from zavvi it took until November 18 before tracking updated to accepted at fedex
I then got delivery on November 22

Took 10 days to get delivery from UK to Republic of Ireland and can vary a lot to other International delivery Address

Zavvi would have mentioned your estimated delivery date in your dispatch email you go by that date and even then allow a few more extra days on top of this especially in December due to christmas period a lot of parcels to process

It does. I work in IT (with a background in web design) and we’re nearly in 2025, the vast majority of what he’s essaying about won’t affect 95% of people (please don’t quote me on that before someone starts…)

You say you work in IT but still somehow managed incorrectly mention me that I said instagram links causes webpage to load slowly
I never mentioned anything about Instagram links causing webpage to load slowly in Leon thread
It was Flloydo who posted about instagram links it was not me

You mentioned wrong person about instagram links in this thread resulting in that post been repeated

Yes because I’m also human and it’s easy to misremember who posted what on a forum when you also have a life

You’re from france so god knows the speeds it takes the U.K. post to get to you but for me it’s not changed. I get my stuff 1-2 days after dispatch

I think you need to be a bit more patient as it’s only been 6 days since dispatch and 2 of those were a weekend

@Flloydo

Thanks both you for your answer and explanations .... usually dispatching from Zavvi is faster, same for transit. but as you said, during this time,
So I'll wait , be patient and just hope French post will deliver packages before Christmas because we're in a bad situation (political).

Right, that's how misconceptions and misinformation gets started. The basis of a children's game 'broken phone', or however it's called in different countries.

Correct, it does. You'll simply receive an error message should you try to upload an image that is too large. No one has reported or complained about images slowing down their devices anyway, so it's a non-issue really. I think the main reason smaller images are preferred is simply because they use up less bandwidth, which the forum obviously only has a limited amount of per month or whatever.

But anyway... moving on! Hoping my copy of this turns up tomorrow, unless Royal Mail have accidentally sent yet another parcel of mine down south again :bored:
