4K Scan does not mean 4K UHDIt drives me batty when they release an edition like this, with all the bells - touting that it is from "a new 4K scan"......
....and they offer no 4K edition.
Yes same payment taken on dispatch@paulboland sorry one quick question.
is zavvi USA same as Uk in regards to payment being taken on despatch for preorders?
Only asking as if by a miracle uk do get to do their own version as it’s sept if it hasn’t entered the despatch stage could cancel
thanks
I got my Django 4k from zavvi UK site.Zavvi and Arrow are not the same
Hut Group yes own Zavvi but that is just one of various companies they purchased over the years
It's not Zavvi that has a controlling interest in Arrow Films it's the Hut Group that does
Arrow do separate USA only releases on some releases
Zavvi UK is not allowed sell USA releases as these won't have BBFC age ratings
Hut Group has acquired majority stake in Arrow Films over 75%
Hut Group can appoint or remove directors from Arrow as they will have majority voting rights
It's not the same as owning a company outright that may happen later as they have majority shares in Arrow Films at the moment
Hut Group own a lot of different retailers and controls shares with a good few product labels
Hut Group had over £1.61 billion net revenue in 2020 (Zavvi only account for a tiny part of this (Zavvi net revenue globally estimated $89.9 Million for 2020) most of Hut Group reveune comes from other product brands they control or own most of this is beauty products)
List of some of retail setcors Hut Group Own
List below is only companies they purchased
There is lot more not in the list below due them not owning outright but have controling shares instead Arrow Films is an example in that regard

Zavvi yes will get more exclusives due to Hut Group having controling shares in Arrow but they are still separate companies
Zavvi USA website has been selling Arrow USA only releases a few months now
Example arrow video release of Django is available on Zavvi USA but not Zavvi UK
To get correct price on Zavvi USA it's important you set shipping and region and language to USA as in all settings on Zavvi website are set to USA
From now on consider Zavvi USA and Zavvi UK separate websites
If arrow have a USA and UK release when you purchase on Zavvi USA you are purchasing the USA release
Your Zavvi UK login details should still work but you need to make sure you are on Zavvi USA website by changing your setiings to USA
You also need to remember to change settings back to UK if you want to use Zavvi UK website
Note Zavvi may change price at checkout if shipping address is outside USA this was not happening eariler last month all you had to do was make sure was shipping in settings was set to USA
I just done a test and when I sigined in using my zavvi UK login details the price changed to $69.99
I will test later this week by setting up a new account on Zavvi USA with different login details to Zavvi UK to see what happens when I enter a delivery address based outside USA
Yes, they do 4K scans and 8K scans even if they don't release a UHD disc.4K Scan does not mean 4K UHD
Films for years even before UHD format existed have had 4K scan of negatives done
4K scan of a negative is about digital file used to do a restoration
Some restorations come from 2K/4K/6K/8K scans of film negatives
Universal did not provide a licence to do a UHD release
It's also complicated by Disney having the rights in other countries due their purchase of Fox
A UHD release in USA may happen at a later time by Universal themselves
I doubt Disney in the other countries they hold the film rights to do a UHD release
Legend is a 2K restoration from a 4K scan of the negative
Universal may at a later time use the 4K scan to do a 4K restoration
Zavvi UK at one stage had django on UK site but had to be removed as Cult Films UK have UK rightsI got my Django 4k from zavvi UK site.
Even now I can order blue underground and other us exclusives on the UK zavvi website
Zavvi UK should not selling blue underground dvd/blu-ray/Uhd releases these should be only listed on Zavvi USA Website.Example:
The New York Ripper - 4K Ultra HD (Includes Blu-ray)
and
American Rickshaw
Buy American Rickshaw from Zavvi, the home of pop culture. Take advantage of great prices on Blu-ray, 4K, merchandise, games, clothing and more!www.zavvi.com
Legend from Arrow is a 2K restoration from a 4K ScanYes, they do 4K scans and 8K scans even if they don't release a UHD disc.
The point I am making is that we now know that a 4K scan exists. So, why they would not release a 4K edition is really annoying.
it's not unique to this film either - most films are getting a 4K or 8K scan to "future proof" them.
(2K scans are when they are cheaping out on them. (2K scans cost less)).
It's tantamount to announcing a 4K scan and a new restoration....... only to release the result on a lesser format.
we have 4K discs. You did a 4K scan. Why are you relegating the result to 1080p?
(probably to do a double dip.)
...don't even get me started on Criterion Collection doing 4K scans and STILL not doing 4K discs!
That's a waste. I still predict that in the near future they will release a 4K restoration from the 4K scan.Legend from Arrow is a 2K restoration from a 4K Scan
The restoration is not a 4K file
