EXCELLENT NEWS!
This will go well with its own first season...isn't that so, @apsmith21 ;) ... I would be the first for a GB on this and Hawkeye.

Group buy posted

So is it just a 4K release as opposed to the 4K and 2D BD & DVD steelbooks available for previous Disney+ releases?
All of these in US have been separate, either UHD or BD only, no stacked crap like in Europe.
This batch just ditched the BD versions, rightfully so.

The EU versions aren't stacked either. They've all got separate hubs. Andor is the only exception, as it had 6 discs.

I remember the days when Steelbooks were the premium packaging, would have Blu-ray, DVD, 3d and a digital code. They'd come in gloss with embossing/debossing. And they we affordable. They could only have been topped if they had included laser discs

Now prices are overinflated or expensive, don't even include most of the formats, e.g., laser discs, streaky matte, flat, and the art isn't inspiring either. Such an inverse of quality vs product cost. At this rate it may all as well go discless media... ;)

Now, that may be a good idea, the physical disc collector going discless, what an oxymoron. :naughty:

And the only word that resonated with me was stacked. That was the last thing on my mind.

Yes I exaggerate, but perhaps there is a point in there somewhere, I assume it's like being given the best drugs to get you hooked, then every visit afterwards you get more ajax spliced in

FYI, I didn't collect from the beginning, so my argument is certainly flawed. Suicide Squad from HDZ was my first OC. I have real fond memories of securing Captain America: Winter Soldier too.

The entire discless thing makes me think that Disenyreally wants everyone to just steel their movies. I’m sure there are some here who stream movies, but with very few exceptions, I only stream from my NAS and those are all identical to the movie bitstream on the disks (thanks to MakeMKV/AnyDVD). I have to imagine that in Asia people who use to buy movies from Disney are no downloading them or buying counterfeits on the street.

Well whatever macro economics is at play, the latest supplier of playable devices is pulling out of the market. See LG, One of the Last Holdouts, Ceases Production of Blu-ray Players

I'm contemplating buying two (just because they are LG), check they work, put them up the loft, so when mine breaks I have backups. Maybe if Panasonic are still in the game, then that's good for consumers, but if consumers aren't buying then, where is the incentive.

As long as I can buy drives for my PC, I can rip them to my NAS, so no worries. TBH, i didn’t now they made 4k players. i thought it was mostly just Panasonic (which I have, but I only use it to upscale some DVDs that aren’t available in HD).

If you want to hold onto copies, ripping them is best, I understand that certain formats/releases are prone to rot. So even if on physical, it can end up being a coaster.

I'm chuckling to myself now, my first music CD purchased before Christmas 1989, Robert Palmer, Heavy Nova, still plays to this day, good times :D

I rip them, because it’s much easier to play on my Shield with kodi than to run them through my 4k player. No boot time and none of the stupid warnings/forced trailers—I love trailers, but don’t force them on me, bc odds are after the first time through, I’m not gonna wanna watch them….besides, I can rip those and put them in the extras folder.
