Thanks for the support everyone, means a great deal. Its business and in business it doesn't always work out unfortunately. Just a shame it took so long to get to me from the initial agreement, cant be helped.
it stings but dust off and go again.

@sbarker unfortunately minimum run on a WEA is 4000 otherwise I would, tbh I'm still contemplating a uk exclusive via a uk retailer for steel only, haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, got a lot to go over and work out.

@Nova im so sorry your one of the last few, please private message me and i can provide an update for you on when to expect it.

That's annoying but surely it would still sell fine?
I would have been all over this, its a great choice, and no interest in Manta.
What's wrong with still releasing it? how many will Manta do?
It's just a risk factor of not selling out?
The Truman show is far superior than Lone Survivor as a film
and should easily sell more.

This is so over the top. Manta have had nearly 80 releases (and I’m not even counting the WWA dress ups they originally had) and 6 of them are discless marvel films. Most steelbook collectors collect multiple steelbook releases/ premiums of the same films. If Blufans and Manta are no longer allowed to release Marvel films with discs but I already have the discs multiple times then why do I need them again? If I can get a premium of those films to add to the collection I’ve been collecting for 11 years for cheaper without the discs then it’s a win. Not saying I agree with discless releases but so far these have only been Marvel MCU films due to licensing and most of us already own the first wave of steels for them or mondo or premiums from other retailers or the zavvi re releases or the zavvi re re releases or the zavvi re re re releases with 4K…. Etc etc

How is this any different to collectors buying custom steelbooks? That come with shittier finishes or crappy wrap around sticker vinyl sheets

Also if you don’t own those discs then the money you save through Manta and Blufans with the discless releases is surely near enough the same price as the discs to buy in your local region to pop in. You save $30 on blufans discless releases compared to normal and nearly $20 with Manta
Opinions.... mine is still that collect movies, not packaging ;)

Poll opened above the OP. If anyone interested in upcoming Astro Creations releases could share your views, please.

:confused:Nope, because I'm in a thread for a premium steelbook set INCLUDING discs :)

Hail @AstroC13
I’m literally f**king around with you because you went oddly over the top in that original message and it made me chuckle but you sound so stupid right now. You say you don’t collect packaging but the USP of premiums is the whole package and not just the steelbook and discs. Sometimes it’s all not prefect, Steel might be the better element, sometimes the slip, sometimes the artcards are rubbish or the lenti etc etc but it’s for the whole thing otherwise what’s the point. Just collect bog standard releases or steels that don’t come with bells and whistles. No disrespect against @AstroC13 because I feel for him with todays news but he’s had one release. You’re acting like all of Novas, Mantas, Blufans or whoever’s releases have been discless since day one, what you mean hail him lol

No need to be rude buddy. Again, opinions, not worth to get personal about. Just enjoy your own opinion and don't worry about mine ;)

If you could get The Truman Show into UK/EU retail stores I think it'll sell like hot cakes, I genuinely do, but I understand 4000 is a heck of a lot of stock units to spread.
It'd be a large bet, especially with a portion of those premium collectors having to choose between yours or an already popular and established brand such as Manta. A lot are pure Manta buyers so wouldn't hesitate to order that one.
I don't think too many would double dip either - it's maybe just one of those films that wouldn't warrant it for many. I know there are big fans out there but speaking for myself, I would only purchase it once.
Manta is so hard to get hold of direct these days that another, more accessible option might be a big draw if the art and design were pleasing.

It's a tough one for sure. I hope you don't rush into any decisions that would compromise yourself or your quality.

Best of luck on what you decide and where you land @AstroC13

I think the Truman show would still sell well.

Sucks this has happened to you man.

Many people would miss out on getting it from manta so I'm sure there's tonnes of people there thst dint want to pay ebay prices for a manta release.

In the future if you end up getting the rights to use The Nice Guys or another much loved underrated film that movie buffs love them I think that would sell like hot cakes

Nice Guys would be cool but I heard a 4k dropped on Apple in US, maybe we get physical soon!

Sure The Truman Show would still sell well, but not as fast now.
Mainly I think, and very much appreciate, that Astro is trying to bring something unique and maybe even first to steelbook and premium. So 'just a Blu-ray' doesn't matter, I'd even buy a DVD if it was some obscure 90's Sean Young or Nastasja Kinski film (and I did, just last week, buy a few movies on DVD).
Also I don't think we need 3 different slips, unless that helps spread out the minimum of 4000 steelbooks, and doesn't bring more expenses to produce, like art fees or something.
Just 1 nice big chunky slip, like EverythingBlu makes, is perfect.

This is my sentiment, certainly won't be buying from Manta,
I personally can't start going into collecting the various foreign releases and the prices attached to them.
The Truman Show would have been one at the top of my list,
Would love to know if it still could be considered to do or is the risk too much,
is it basically just a fear of not selling out of 4000 units?

He won't be going for truman show now, no. Doesn't want to compete with manta, plus they've chosen all the good art for the film already, so there isn't much of a package left release.

The risk of 4K units is huge by itself for a new single operator, let alone when you have to compete with another 3K units from an established name that have just been released.

I'd say a steelbook only release for Truman Show would definitely be worth revisiting some other time (maybe a year or 2 from now), so personally wouldn't completely write it off just yet.
