I was really excited for this edition, but the back artwork does not look good....cannot understand why the storm effect would lead to such distortions...it was a sand storm, not matter collapsing into a black hole!!! It would have been better to just have Hardy and Theron with no backdrop at all of the trucks...

Still, I fully support HDZeta and will end up buying this unless the slips are no good...hopefully Xin can still try and get the back art corrected, though looks unlikely from his response...

Why does the colour fade off in this area compared to the rest....??

My guess would be that since that portion of the image will be wrapped around the edge of the Steelbook where it can't be seen, they just didn't bother to extend the effect that far. That's still unprofessional, though. What bothers me more is that the area under Hardy's right arm looks like there was barely any attempt made to blend the two images together, unlike the area on the far right, above Charlize's knee.

The whole thing's just plain sloppy. Makes no sense.

there was a deleted scene where Max steals weed from immortan joe, Max returns to Furiosa with the bag of weed, and they get really high, that explains the disortions :p

so. um. just that I understand correctly.... you all are saying that the distortions on the back are not applicable? i ask because I haven't seen this movie. if that's true, why the hell would they do that to the image? can anyone think of a valid reason? if nobody can, then seriously.... they need to fix it.

There is no thematic or creative reason for doing this to the art. I can only assume it is a mistake. Imagine this effect being applied to the car behind Ryan Gosling in the HMV Steelbook and you have an idea about the oddness of this artwork.

If the overall package is good enough (and I think it will be), then I can live with that back artwork, as I will display it in the lenti slip on my shelf anyway.

I don't see any reason why they couldn't just remove the smudge effect, fix the blending errors toward the bottom left, and resubmit the cover to WB.
It may not be that simple, as:
That's not mistake, its the effect of the sand storm, pics from offical design, nobody can change that.
I also have to say that I find it difficult to appreciate this "artistic" choice. Looks like the designer made a mistake and somehow (perhaps in intoxicated state) got infatuated with the results (n):arghh:
