i could be wrong on this but they are using artwork like this so they don't have to pay extra royalties to tom cruise or any of the actors. Seems like they just told an amateur he has 2 days to come up with some artwork and this was the result lol

I know this is correct for new artwork for older movies, but doesn't the studio own distribution rights including all the existing art and photos, made for promotion? So they could've used one of the posters, and will, just on amarays, and on DVD covers...

If that is so, then it's nothing but utter incompetence, OR assumption the 'collector' chums will buy anything "steelbook", and we should file a petition to let them know!
