We're thrilled to announce the release - and share a sneak peek at the design - for THE THING ™ INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31, our very first board game in collaboration with USAopoly’s designer games division, Project Raygun. The regular version of the game will be in stores and online nationwide this October, and a limited edition Mondo exclusive version will be available at MondoTees.com.

Sign up for our INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31 newsletter here to stay up-to-date with release info.

An alien lifeform has infiltrated a bleak and desolate Antarctic research station assimilating other organisms and then imitating them. In the hidden identity game THE THING ™ INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31, you will relive John Carpenter’s sci-fi cult classic in a race to discover who among the team has been infected by this heinous lifeform.

The game has been designed to be as authentically cinematic as possible, ensuring that the players will experience the paranoia and tension that makes the film so great.

"Mondo brought more than their storied design acumen to the table," said Joe Van Wetering, Creative Design and Game Development at Project Raygun. "Thanks to their deep understanding and reverence for THE THING, they helped define the tone and shape the game play itself. INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31 reflects a true collaboration between our two brands resulting in a game that will excite table top and film aficionados alike."

The regular version of the game features artwork and designs by Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative. The Mondo exclusive version, sold exclusively through MondoTees.com, is limited to 1,982 copies, and features different packaging artwork by Jock. The limited edition game will also come with a Mondo print, enamel pin and two additional sculpted movers: the Norwegian character and the Palmer Thing.

Commenting on the design, artist Justin Erickson said, "with THE THING box art, I wanted to focus on the isolation of Outpost 31 and hint at the hidden alien dangers that lurk around every corner. The title of the game cut out of the ice/snow is a call back to the Thing originally being cut out of the ice by the Norwegians."

The Thing™ Infection at Outpost 31 Gameplay
It is the start of the bleak, desolate Antarctic winter when a group of NSF researchers manning the claustrophobic, isolated U.S. Outpost 31 comes into contact with a hostile extraterrestrial lifeform. Bent on assimilating Earth’s native species, this being infiltrates the facility—creating a perfect imitation of one of the Outpost 31 crew. The staff frantically begin a sweep of the base, desperate to purge this alien infection before escaping to warn McMurdo Station that somewhere, out there in the frigid darkness, something horrible is waiting.

In THE THING™ INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31, relive John Carpenter’s sci-fi cult classic as a hidden identity game designed to push you to the edge. Play as one of a dozen characters like helicopter pilot MacReady, mechanic Childs, or station manager Garry. Face sabotage and infection as you investigate the facility—gather gear, battle The Thing, expose any imitations among you, and escape Outpost 31!

Tension mounts and paranoia ensues as you question who you can trust in the ultimate race to save humanity.

"In 2013, Jock created an outstanding Mondo poster for The Thing with his depiction of an icy alien imitator erupting from the arctic snow. At the time he also came up with a collection of great concept sketches that we really wanted to see finished some day. When we asked Jock to create the box art for our limited edition version of the game he dipped back into those concepts and came back with a viscerally beautiful rendering of an imitation overtaking its host and reaching out to ensnare the viewer in its tendrils."

I hope I'm around when this goes live. I definitely want to try for it! :D

This year at MondoCon...

THE THING: INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31 GAME PLAY
Various times throughout the weekend at the Austin American-Statesman

RSVPs for playthroughs will be available here at 12PM (CT) on Tuesday, October 17th.

It appears we’re having trouble communicating with the Antarctic research crew down at Outpost 31. We received a distress signal but we haven’t been able to establish contact since. We’re looking for recruits to help us figure out what’s going on down there. We’ve all heard the rumors of a major discovery buried in the ice but at this time we can not confirm early reports. We don’t anticipate danger but we recommend volunteers come prepared for any unforeseen events that may occur.

Join us to be among the first humans on earth to play Mondo & Project Raygun’s THE THING: INFECTION AT OUTPOST 31.

also, wasn't sure whether post in this thread for the game, this thread, or this thread - should some of these be merged?

for those who want a closer look at the artwork for the Jock edition, here you go. the box sleeve is in relatively heavy duty plastic and fits snugly.

as for Jock's artwork, the treatment is really nice, with spot gloss aspects, and the printing is done in relief, so you get a good overlay on the colours and the various parts of the image. There is at least some print on all four sides as well as the front and back:

the extra Jock print is also pretty good - see this pic also for the extra Outpost 31 pin:

and here's the whole game unpacked (haven't yet dug down into the individual characters, but some of the 'Infected' game pieces are pleasingly messed up):

now combined now with the 2 new Arrow releases and play steel for my Outpost 31 survival kit!

We're celebrating 25 years of dinosaur chaos with our next board game - JURASSIC PARK: THE CHAOS GENE! Movie fans and board game enthusiasts can expect exciting gameplay and gorgeous artwork, featuring the immensely talented artist Matthew Woodson. The game will be available online and in stores everywhere this Fall. We'll have the box top on display at our booth at San Diego Comic-Con (#425), and attendees will have the opportunity to get a special JURASSIC PARK patch when visiting the booth.
Taking an asymmetrical approach to the game’s playable characters and factions, JURASSIC PARK: THE CHAOS GENE is a 2-4 player adventure of varying strategies, objectives, and perspectives. While exploration of the park is at the core of each player’s motivation, the means by which separate factions achieve their goals couldn’t be more different. Through a scenario-based system, the game becomes a truly chaotic mix of modern humans and prehistoric beasts.

Game Description
“Jurassic Park: The Chaos Gene” is a 2 to 4 player asymmetrical miniatures board game, for age 14 and up. Choose your faction from the following: InGen, Park Visitors, Raptors or the T. rex. Find items needed for your faction, attack or avoid other dinosaurs, gain experience and customize your faction. With several scenarios and modular environment tiles for players to explore, each faction has unique objectives to complete in an effort to win the game!

Dracula vs. the Invisible Man vs. Jekyll & Hyde vs. Sherlock Holmes

Reacquaint yourself with the heroes and villains of Victorian Gothic in the latest standalone entry of the hit hero-battling Unmatched game series – Unmatched: Cobble & Fog.
Unmatched is a highly asymmetrical miniature fighting game for two or four players. Each hero is represented by a unique deck designed to evoke their style and legend. Tactical movement and no-luck combat resolution create a unique play experience that rewards expertise, but just when you've mastered one set, new heroes arrive to provide all-new match-ups.
Featuring the atmospheric art of Andrew Thompson, Unmatched: Cobble & Fog introduces four new heroes for the Unmatched system. The Invisible Man uses fog to dart around the board and strike without warning. Sherlock, with the trusty Dr. Watson by his side, schemes and calculates to ensure victory. Dracula and the sisters slowly drain you of your power. Jekyll & Hyde uses the former's cunning and the latter's brute strength to win the day.

Fate of Fantos: The Iridium Wars

In partnership with BGG Games, and in celebration of this weekend's Gen Con, we're proud to unveil ... FATE OF FANTOS: THE IRIDIUM WARS. And the best part is that you can order it right now.

FATE OF FANTOS: THE IRIDIUM WARS is a tableau-building card game with competitive and co-operative elements for 3-6 players, each assuming the role of a unique citadel of Fantos. Players are responsible for hiring acolytes to manage their affairs, with the ultimate goal of obtaining the most Iridium.

Beautiful art and beautiful gameplay will make this a worthy addition to your game rotation. We love it.

Throughout the eons, hordes of aliens and beasts from across the galaxy have descended upon the planet of Fantos in search of Iridium ... the life force of all existence.

As the hordes multiplied, conflict became commonplace, splintering the population into rival citadels. Eventually, war, greed, and the depletion of resources pushed Fantos to the brink of destruction. In response to the planet's cry for help, Zodraz, the Cosmic Warden, intervened, sentencing the planet to a great cull to be survived by only a single worthy citadel.
