PHYSICAL MEDIA ! I want my Blu-ray disks, I don't want any digital copies I throw the paper with numbers away as I don't want to support this part of the industry and I want companies to know it(as they look at how many copies sold physically and how many downloaded), I want blu-ray to stay alive and don't want to support this virtual movie world...what would happen to our steelbooks???...digital movement moving in, so for movie it is those HD copies with numbers, I don't want, I like them in hands it's not the same thing.

And I would say to all who buy blu-rays/steelbooks, please do not download the copy using those numbers, you are telling studios that it is maybe a way they could go in a near future...I like to support the artists/movies or music but if it would come to movies only Digital Copy I would not want to support this part of the industry, I could care less about piracy, now I support by buying the physical copy.

@cooey

:OMG: :notworthy: :notworthy: :hilarious: .

@Actarus

Never thought about the digital ones with the movies we buy in that way. That it could contribute to the demise of disk format :OMG: . I have fleabayed some 'cos 4 of us live here and we can not get agreement on the colour of the sky never mind what moive to watch.

I love the phisical copys ok the storage side can be a pain however all the negatives are not strong enough for me to deviate from a disk.

Also any break in service OR glich with email addresses password's and very few have an actual phone number to contact. Live chat I can do that but email forms and me :wow: .

@Scary Hair Yes indeed all studios look at the statistic at how many physical copies are sold and out of the ones they sell how many do download the movie as well... I had read somewhere that companies ideally would love to just switch to Digital copies, so the more we download(even though we may have bought the blu-ray), the more we tell them indirectly ''hey I'm ok with a digital download and at one point Blu-ray could be gone...I agree with you it can be a pain for storage, but something so special about having that physical copy in hand and if you want to rewatch a movie you look on shelves to get it as opposed to a download.

I have been buying vinyl all my life, love to open a vinyl, the smell of it, to hear the little imperfections in the sounds with little noises of the dust that has found it's way into the groove, that you can here mostly on an accapella part or beginning/end of the disk, and the richness of the sound, is not comparable to a digital download. It was sad when it became harder to find my songs on vinyl and had to adapt, but still supported when available. Now we find more and more companies and artists that want the vinyl to come back...it's doing a comeback ! ...this just to show at how the music industry did go digital but at one point the consumer, and the ''connaisseurs'' want to go back old school. Even see more and more kids now wanting they artists to have the vinyl instead of a simple download.

I still buy books, love Hardcovers and the smell of a new book and the texture of the page, the off white or on the yellowish side color of the pages to be more pleasant for the eyes...when I love a book usually get the series. I also have a Kindle Paperwhite with 2nd generation light. So I have all my physical books but also have them on my kindle so if ever I go somewhere I have all my books with me and sometimes when I want to read in bed in the dark, the kindle is perfect, the 2nd generation doesn't have a backlight like an Ipad so it doesn't strain the eye and it is very pleasant. But if I get a book for my Kindle I will get the Book also ! This way I am still supporting the Book industry and most book these days are made all of recycled materials or most part so it is still environmental friendly.

for the email address are you talking when you download/rent a movie like with netflix ? that part with the phone number to contact I am not getting I think but if you are referring to the online rental market from your TV that I think it's cool in a way as we never buy all the movies we watch and it offers a wonderful alternative as to not get your ass in the car to go to blockbuster to try to find a movie and they are out of the one you wanted, takes you 20 more min to find the ones you want get back in the car to come home and you've lost 1h average to go rent a movie, so for the rental market I think it is wonderful. But for me when I rent a movie and I like the movie enough, I will buy it as well for 3 reasons, 1) I want to show the company that people still buy and want physical copies 2) love having that physical copy on a shelf and 3) buying the movie shows support to the movie and by telling movie companies we support them movies we love, we tell them that they are not wasting their money on the physical blu-ray.

@cooey love the shelving unit really nice ! I have similar shelving for my vinyls...but my blu-ray collection growing at one point will have to have something like you have...I'm starting to rush to find room for my new purchases

Thanks @Actarus

I love my new shelving in my new office.... so used to having no room at all and having to stack them up on the floor in piles :) At least with these shelves I've got space for another 250ish which will be enough for this year :D

It's Perfect, something I would need. I have them for my vinyls but still bookshelves for movies, I would need something like you have. it's really awesome. I'm in a not too stable financial position so I have to do with what I have for now, but Ikea is alway a cheap and affordable way for another bookshelf if ever I run out of room in a few months... I like my movies behind doors (wood or glass) as I like the protection against dust....my vinyl units are like your movie units and I have to clean to remove dust periodically...(but I am lucky not too dusty here)... in any case I think with the amount of disks you have it's the perfect solution.

I like both. I have a very large digital collection that I stream through a Mac mini but I love my collection of physical movies. I'm new to steelbooks but my blu ray collection is pretty solid overall.

No matter what I stream I never feel entirely satisfied with what I see and hear versus watching a blu ray, even if the claim is 1080p on the digital copy. For the sake of ease, I can quickly scroll through my digital library to find something to watch rather than looking through a wall of physical copies.

Physical. I believe the push to digital and cloud storage is a cabal. Movie studios enjoyed the cash flow that physical media created from the beginning of the VHS and Beta tapes to the DVDs and Blus. But studios never liked that we had physical ownership of a movie. And with DVD they really didn't like it(even as they enjoyed the cash flow it provided). They were the ones who pushed the DIVX DVD- the format that gave you a 48 Hour viewing period before destroying itself. They did not want people to buy once and watch forever (VHS tape was not a threat because it obviously was going to turn to dust eventually). They wanted you to buy per view. Now, with the ability store large amounts of data in clouds, it seems logical to buy our films digitally and keep them in a cloud based storage (especially since higher resolutions demand much more memory). Soon we will see boutique hubs in the cloud where we can buy and store our digital films. And it will cost us money. Probably a monthly charge. Which in essence brings us all the way back to where the studios and their parent companies want us: Renting our movies.(with the illusion of ownership).
I'll keep my media room.

@cooey were did the units come from pal:thumbs:
I second that question! Yes, @cooey, where did you get that media setup? (Looks modular)
Please say somewhere I can get it on the internet!
And don't say, only a place in the UK, or custom built!
(I've been looking forever for a decent storage/display setup).
