Returns To The Big Screen December 13th
Abel Ferrara’s (Bad Lieutenant, King Of New York) 1981 revenge thriller classic Ms. 45 follows a mute garment-district seamstress – played by the late model/actress/musician/screenwriter Zoë Lund – who after falling victim to multiple unspeakable assaults, ignites her one-woman homicidal rampage against New York City’s entire male population. Now remastered in HD from the original negative materials, Ms. 45 returns to theaters this December and debuts on DVD and Blu-ray uncut for the first time in North America.
Another 2013 highlight for us was working with American film icon Abel Ferrara on the release of the restored, uncut version of his female revenge thriller classic Ms. 45. The film is a time capsule of nasty '80s NYC, and a uniquely feminist entry in the urban revenge thriller subgenre. A then 18-year-old Zoë Lund – who would later go on to co-write Ferrara's masterpiece Bad Lieutenant – stars as Thana, a mute garment district seamstress who, after falling victim to multiple unspeakable assaults, ignites her one-woman homicidal rampage against New York City's entire male population.
The film combines the rabid angst of 1976's Death Wish with Roman Polanski's surreal, post-traumatic Repulsion. It's raw, shocking and complex and breaks down the barriers between arthouse and grindhouse, displaying the early talents of one of America's most furious and uncompromising auteurs.
