In an introductory video released today, Nintendo provided the first glimpse of its new home gaming system and revealed that it is called Nintendo Switch. In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.

At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting Nintendo Switch from the dock, the system will instantly transition to portable mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on an airplane, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment.

What a boring conference! Hated all the game they showed...
The machine gives me 0 hype... but of course... OF COURSE..... they will have Zelda on LAUNCH DAY on March 3rd and they had one of the MOST EPIC TRAILER EVER to show it!!!!

Got a PO in for the neon Joy Con version at BB for my 8 year old son. He's going to be thrilled as we explained to him back in December that his Christmas present would be arriving late.

Now to get my hands on a Classic NES for me! Hopefully Nintendo ships more out. I need my Donkey Kong fix!

SPECS:
The Nintendo Switch device offers a 6.2-inch, 720p multitouch display that runs at a 1280 x 720 resolution when used in a handheld mode.
When docked, the Switch is capable of outputting full 1080p visuals through an HDMI connection to an attached TV. Nintendo says that the Switch runs off a custom Nvidia Tegra processor.

Storage:
The Switch includes 32GB of onboard memory, which feels dramatically low in today’s age of 500GB and 1TB Xbox Ones and PS4s, especially with the modern focus on downloadable titles.
However, storage can be expanded through the use of microSD cards.
Games for the Switch will come on physical GameCards, which may help alleviate the console’s onboard storage space by offloading most of the storage requirements for each game to the individual GameCards.

Pre-ordered my console yesterday morning at 6am. I plan on buying the new Zelda for both the Switch and WiiU, so I'll most likely play it on my WiiU. I have between now and March 3rd to decide whether or not to keep my Switch pre-order. Looking at the line-up, there's really nothing that interests me besides Zelda and Super Mario Odyssey... and that doesn't come out until the end of the year. I just figured it was a good idea to pre-order before they disappeared like all other new Nintendo consoles.
