This is getting some great reviews. Though I still don't think LRD is a good actress in the slightest. Hopefully she can pull off this role.
Looking forward to it. I might actually step foot in a cinema to watch it and shout "Go on Eggers" when the BBFC certificate comes on
Love me some Eggers.

(Obviously no shouting in the cinema)

I’ve got a lot to say about this film and I can’t stop thinking of it, I’ve already watched it twice in 2 nights but there’s one thing I wasn’t expecting…

I wasn’t expecting that look for Orlok. And I didn’t originally like the look. The tash threw me but by the end of the first watch I loved it. I’ve never seen a Vlad the Impaler looking vampire and the first thing I thought was ooohhh he’s more Vlad in this. Interesting.

And then the rest of him is literally a corpse. Rather unique looking Vampire imo

Also I don’t have a f**king clue how Bill did that voice. That rumble. A deep rumble of ancient (Romanian?). I’m not sure if that was all him or if it was manipulated but wow what a voice. Rumbled through my bones

A very tense, quality made homage that can stand on its own. Visually perfect, often disgustingly spooky, a couple of sudden jump scares with a literal ugly face, but otherwise I have no qualms.
Vampyr Orlok looks like a dirty old drunken Ukrainian peasant, or an angry deformed cossack. If you've seen an old Soviet era film Viy, you'll know.
It's kinda funny.
Willem Dafoe is the best here, while the main actress, whoever she is, is only befittingly sickly looking, otherwise I did not like her at all. Only now finding out Anya Taylor-Joy could've been in her place, which makes me even sadder.
